English and Foreign Language University (EFLU), Lucknow was founded in 1979 to train university/college English teachers in northern India, but it has since grown into a full-fledged campus center offering Bachelor, Master, Doctoral, and PG Diploma courses in English teaching. To be eligible for the UG program, candidates must have a 10+2 qualification; to be eligible for the M.A. in English, they must have a Bachelor's degree with at least 55% marks.
In addition, the school offers Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs in four foreign languages: French, German, Spanish, and Russian. EFLU, Lucknow is primarily recognized for providing communication skills training, particular teacher training, and grammatical workshops.

Eligibility

Candidates must have passed the Intermediate/10+2 examination or its equivalent with 50% for General/OBC candidates and 45% for SC/ST category candidates, including English as one of the subjects.

Eligibility

ELFU Lucknow MA Selection Criteria Candidates must pass the entrance exam in order to be admitted to MA courses. Candidates will be chosen based on their entrance exam score as well as their bachelor's degree merit. Applicants must have passed a bachelor's degree in any discipline with 55% of the possible points for General/OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST candidates.

ELFU Lucknow Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria English Literature

• Applicants must have completed an M.A. in English with 55% marks for General/OBC (creamy layer) applicants and 50% marks for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently abled.
  Or, must be M.Phil. English (Commonwealth Literature/English Literature).
• Alternatively, the candidate must be enrolled in any of the qualifying programmes listed above, have passed the examination by the time of admission, and have obtained the minimum eligibility marks.

English Language Education

• The candidate must have completed an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) / English Language Teaching (ELT) / English with at least one course in the field of ELT, with 55% marks for General/OBC (creamy layer) candidates and 50% marks for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / differently-abled category candidates.
• Alternatively, completion of Semester I of PGDTE with a minimum of 'B+' grade for General / OBC (creamy layer) applicants, 'B' grade for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / Differently-abled category candidates.
• Alternatively, Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching of English (PGCTE) from CIEFL/EFL University with at least a 'B+' grade for General/OBC (creamy layer) candidates, 'B' grade for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / Differently abled applicants.
• Alternatively, a Master of Philosophy in English Language Education or English Language Teaching.
• Alternatively, the candidate must be enrolled in any of the qualifying programmes listed above, have passed the examination by the time of admission, and have obtained the minimum eligibility marks.

Phonetics and Linguistics

• The candidate should possess an M.A. in Linguistics, Phonetics, Applied Linguistics, or A. English degree, with a minimum of 55% for General/OBC (creamy layer) candidates and 50% for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled candidates. The coursework should comprise papers and courses in Linguistics or Phonetics.
  Alternatively, M.Phil. Applied Linguistics / M.Phil. Phonetics / M.Phil. Linguistics / M.Phil. English (with a focus on Phonetics or Linguistics).
• Alternately, PGDTE/PGCTE with a minimum score of "B+" for applicants in the general or OBC category and "B" for students in the SC/ST category.
• Alternatively, the applicant must be enrolled in one of the qualifying programs listed above, have passed the exam by the time of admission, and have received the required number of qualifying marks.

Selection criteria

Qualified candidates from the university's entrance exam will be admitted to the Ph.D. program following a personal interview round.

How to Apply to ELFU Lucknow?

• Applicants must go to the university's website, click the registration link on the homepage, and download the prospectus.
• After filling out the application, candidates must submit all required documents along with the application fee (INR 500 for general candidates and INR 250 for SC/ST candidates).
• If the candidate does not fall under the general category, they must also provide a caste certificate. Once all information has been submitted, a user ID and password will be sent to the registered ID of the candidate.
• After submitting the application, candidates must print a copy of their completed application.
• Candidates who have successfully enrolled and met the eligibility requirements must take the computer-based entrance examination, which is held across India.
• The University will publish admission lists on its website for students who meet the mandatory minimum cut off. These candidates will be invited to the EFLU 2024 counselling. The EFLU 2024 counselling process will take place on the university campus. It should be mentioned that candidates are advised to bring all of the required official documents to the EFLU counselling 2024.
