Established in 2010, the Indian Institute of Teacher Education (IITE) Gandhinagar was the brainchild of the then chief minister, Narendra Modi Ji. It contributes to the nation by turning out top-notch educators. It is the only institution in India devoted exclusively to education. Admission to the residential courses is determined by merit.

Admission to IITE Gandhinagar 

Every year, in May and June, the B.Ed. integrated course admissions process is typically carried out. The Pre-Entry Test for Prospective Teachers (PTPT) is a prerequisite for eligible candidates, and the IITE administers the Profession Entry Test (PET) to the shortlisted individuals.

• Every year, the M.Ed. integrated course admissions procedure is typically held in June.

• Students who have completed the MA/M.Sc. M.Ed (Integrated) Program may enroll if they have passed the B.Sc./B.A. B.Ed. or B.Sc./B.A. and B.Ed.  

Research Program

Every year, in June, applications for the Fellowship program are typically submitted. Typically, the entire intake is announced at the time of admission. All University Ph.D. and M.Phil. scholars are eligible, provided they meet the following requirements:

• The candidate must be accepted into the Ph.D./M.Phil. program full-time (regular).

• Under any name, the candidate should not be receiving funding or research support from any other source, including UGC.

• For the duration of the Fellowship, the candidate may not hold any full-time or part-time jobs of any kind.

• Throughout the fellowship period, the candidate must be on campus full-time. 

Gandhinagar Placements at IITE

43 students were graduated in the 2018–19 academic year; 23 went on to further their study, while 8 were employed by different businesses. INR 2,66,500 was the median wage for the year.

• Eight of the 40 students who completed the two-year program were placed in other institutions. In 2018–19, the median pay was INR 228,000.

• Nine students completed the three-year program; one went on to further their education, while the other five were employed by different companies.

• INR 1,92,000. was the median wage for the year. 

IITE Gandhinagar Facilities: 

The library at IITE Gandhinagar is fully furnished to accommodate all of its students' research requirements. It has access to more than 1.5 lakh e-books and e-journals and has more than 8500 novels.

Hostel: IITE provides separate accommodations for boys and girls as well as medical consultation services and a mess for its students.

Transportation: IITE offers its students transportation services between their dorm and the university. As part of the curriculum, the university offers its students transportation so they can visit various locations for project-based learning.
