Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, established in Patiala under the
Punjab Act No. 11 of 2019, aims to promote sports education across various

Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University is a state university located in
Patiala, Punjab, India. It was established in 2019 by the Government of Punjab

- Establishment and Mandate: The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh
Punjab Sports University (MBSPSU) was established in Patiala on August 29,
2019, under the Punjab Act No. 11 of 2019. It is mandated to promote
sports education in areas such as sports sciences, sports technology,

- Recognition and Affiliation: The University received
recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f)
of the UGC Act 1956 on September 9, 2019. It became operational from
September 16, 2019, initially operating from the premises of Professor
Gursewak Singh Government College of Physical Education, Patiala. The
University has also gained membership in the Association of Indian
Universities (AIU).
- Academic Offerings: Currently, the university
offers programs including Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports
(BPES), Bachelor of Sports Science (BSS), Post-Graduation Diploma in Yoga,
and Master of Science in Yoga. Additionally, new courses such as Bachelor
of Arts (BA) and Master of Physical Education and Sports (MPES) are slated
to be introduced in the upcoming academic session.
- Expansion and Facilities: The University is actively
expanding its infrastructure and facilities. It has established a State
Training Center (STC) for Polo and Equestrian sports in Patiala, with
plans for additional STCs for boxing, fencing, basketball, and football in
various locations. Construction of the University campus near village
Sidhuwal along Bhadson Road is underway, with Phase 1 expected to be
completed by March 2023, including an Academic Block and two Hostels.

Notes:
- Caution Money (Refundable) will
be charged only once at the time of initial admission. Any dues by the
student to the University will be deducted from this caution money.
- There may be a yearly increase
of 5% to 10% in the Total Fee Per Annum.
- Hostel Fee and Messing Charges
will be as per the norms of the Govt. College of Education, Patiala.
- An amount of Rs. 500.00 per
student will be transferred to the Alumni Association Fund from the
caution money deposited at the time of admission.
- Concessions are available for

Admission
Process:
- Eligibility Criteria: Admission to the University's
courses is subject to meeting the minimum eligibility conditions set by
the institution for each particular course.
- Provisional Admission: Candidates awaiting results of
their qualifying examinations can be provisionally admitted or allowed to
appear in the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) at their own risk.
- Interview Process: Candidates will undergo a
personal interview conducted online. Admission to courses will be based on
the merit of applicants in different categories, as per prescribed
criteria and procedures.
- Criteria for Tie-Breaking: In case of equal marks in the
merit list, preference will be given to candidates with higher educational
qualifications or older in age.
- Application Procedure: Interested candidates must
apply for their desired course within the specified dates by submitting
the prescribed form along with copies of certificates, testimonials, and
required documents mentioned in the admission brochure.
- Medical Test: Students must clear a medical
test conducted by the University's medical officer before enrollment.

Hostel
Rules :
- Guest Policy: No entry for guests/day
scholars without prior permission. Overnight stays permitted with written
consent from the warden, subject to a fee.
- Furniture Responsibility: Students must carefully use
hostel furniture and obtain a security guard certificate while leaving the
hostel.
- Curfew: Different curfew times for boys
and girls. Late entries require warden's permission.
- Valuables: Avoid keeping large amounts of
cash or valuables in rooms. University not liable for losses.
- Electricity Usage: Turn off lights/fans before
leaving rooms. No cooking appliances allowed. Strictly no private cooking.
- Prohibited Substances: Strictly no possession or
consumption of cigarettes, alcohol, or drugs. Expulsion may result from
violation.
- Behavior: No loud music, disturbing
others, or indoor/outdoor games in hostels. No parties allowed.
- Mess Rules: Food only in dining hall during
specified times. No taking mess food to rooms.
- Hostel Charges: Deposited lump sum,
non-refundable if student fails to occupy. Mess fees must be paid on time,
late fees applicable.
- Inspections: Hostel inspection permitted at
any time. Students must keep rooms clean with a dustbin.
- Leave Policy: Hostel leave granted separately
from college leave. Unauthorized leave not permitted.
