In 2008, the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, approved Indian Maritime institution (IMU) in Kolkata as a central institution. In addition to its main 4-year B.Tech. program in Marine Engineering, it offers short-term courses connected to the sector as well as PG (M.Tech. and MBA) courses. For admission to both UG and graduate programs, the institute administers its own entrance exam (IMU - CET). Selection Criteria
Admission to the M.Tech and MBA programs is determined by the institution using the results of the IMU CET entrance exam.
There are 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in the admission test covering the following topics: English, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Ability for MBA programs.
Important Points:
Candidates who fall under the SC/ST categories are eligible for a 5% reduction on the minimum score necessary.
M.Tech: To be eligible for admission to this program, candidates from all categories must take and pass the IMU Common Entrance Test (CET). On the other hand, candidates who meet the required GATE / GRE scores might not need to take the IMU CET.
Application Process 2024 at University
In order to be considered for admission to any of the many undergraduate and graduate programs that IMU and its affiliated institutions offer, interested candidates must register for the IMU CET online through the official registration portal found on the university website.
The application fee must be paid online using a credit or debit card or net-banking. There is no reimbursement for the application cost.
