Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), originally Andhra Pradesh Open University, is a government-run distance education institution in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. BRAOU was founded in 1982 and has been accredited by the NAAC with a "B++" rating and approved by the UGC. Across the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, BRAOU operates through a network of 179 Study Centers, including 23 Regional Coordination Centers (RCCs).
Through the Faculties of Arts, Commerce, Education, Sciences, and Social Sciences, BRAOU provides a range of Undergraduate, Graduate, Diploma, Certificate, and Research programs, with an annual enrollment exceeding one lakh students. The UGC and the Distance Education Bureau (DEB) both acknowledge each program. All UG and PG programs at BRAOU, with the exception of the MBA, are admitted on the basis of merit, or the grades obtained on the qualifying exam. Admission to MBA programs is determined by the results of the BRAOUMBA Entrance Test (BRAOUMBAET) or the TS/AP ICET.
