For the dual degree programs, admission to University B.Tech 2024 is determined by the JEE Main or IIITH UGEE scores. For the B.Tech programs, University also accepts SPEC scores.

The Postgraduate Entrance Exam (IIITH PGEE) is administered by university campus in order to grant admission to M.Tech, M.S., and Ph.D. programs. The university PGEE exam was held on May 4, 2024, and the application period was open until April 5, 2024. Candidates who meet the requirements can apply for admission to university by going to the school's official website.

Admission for B.Tech at University

Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) are the two B.Tech specialisations offered by university. It is available for a period of 4 years. The B.Tech programme costs INR 3 lakhs for the first year. There are 70 seats available for B.Tech ECE and 100 seats available for B.Tech CSE.

Students specialising in computer science are offered computer science courses in the early semesters and non-IT courses in the final semesters of their program. Core courses including data structures and programming languages are taught in the early semesters of the ECE specialisation, whereas advanced courses and electives are given in the latter semesters. Additionally, a range of seminars are created especially to provide students with practical experience.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech

• Applicants for the B.Tech program must have completed their 12th grade math, chemistry, and physics courses with a cumulative grade point average of 60%.

Selection Criteria for B.Tech at university

• Based on the JEE Main cutoff announced by the institute, those who applied through JEE Main would be selected.
• For other admission channels, the institute will use the results of the written exam and personal interviews to determine the candidates.
• A 60-minute Subject Proficiency Test is part of the university Admission Test. The subjects covered in the syllabus would be 11th and 12th.

Admission for M.Tech at University

University offers four M.Tech programs: Product Design & Management, Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Information Security, and Computer-Aided Structural Engineering.

Admission to the university M.Tech program is only granted on the basis of PGEE scores. Subject tests and general aptitude tests are part of the admission exam. The university M.Tech program requires an application fee of INR 2500 and a tuition fee of INR 4,00,000.

Students can apply to these courses if they hold a B.Tech or a comparable degree in a related subject.

 Selection Criteria for M.Tech at university

• Admission to the M.Tech program at university is through the PGEE admission test.
• The institute alone administers the computer-based university PGEE exam. This test is administered at numerous locations in numerous cities.
• Candidates are selected in the end based on how well they performed in the interview.
• Candidates must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee and submit their supporting documentation for verification after their seat is assigned.

Admissions for Dual Degree Program (B.Tech + MS by Research)

The following courses are available as 5-year dual degree programs at university:

Eligibility Criteria for Dual Degree Program (B.Tech + MS by Research)

• Entrants who have completed their 12th grade with at least 60% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are qualified.

Selection Criteria for Dual Degree Program (B.Tech + MS by Research)

• The university UGEE Entrance Test is used to determine admission to the Dual Degree (B.Tech+M.S) program, which is then followed by counselling.
• The Subject Proficiency Test and the Research Aptitude Test are the two portions of this exam. 60 minutes make up the first section, and one 100 and 20 minutes make up the second.
• For UGEE, there is an application fee of INR 2,500.
• Through KVPY/Olympiad: Students in classes 11 and 12 who are representing India in foreign olympiads in subjects like informatics, science, mathematics, physics, or languages are eligible to apply.
• The application costs 2000 Indian rupees.

When applying through UGEE, the CSD cutoff is higher than that of the other streams. It is anticipated that students in the top 60 will select CSD over other streams. The details of the 2023 cutoff are as follows:

Admissions 2024 for MS By Research 

In the following streams: Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Science, Civil Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computational Linguistics, IT in Building Science, Information Technology, and Computational Natural Sciences. University offers a 2-year MS By Research program as a single master's degree program. The entire fees of the university Master of Science (M.S.) programme is INR 3 Lakhs.

Students in university research-focused MS program can select advanced courses related to their area of interest and spend a year conducting research. The institute provides funding to students so they can do study and present their findings at conferences and publications.

Eligibility Criteria for MS By Research 

• Students who have passed the B.Arch. examination or who have completed a master's program in science, mathematics, information technology, computers, or MCA programs, or who have earned a BE, B.Tech., ME, or M.Tech. degree in the relevant or appropriate field, such as CSE, ECE, EEE, Civil, or Biotechnology.

MS IIIT Hyderabad Using the Research Selection Criteria

• Candidates are admitted to the MS (By Research) program by means of the university PGEE entrance exam.
• The institute alone administers the computer-based university PGEE exam. This test is administered at numerous locations in numerous cities.
• Based on their performance on the entrance exam, candidates are shortlisted for subsequent interviews.
• Candidates are chosen in the end based on how well they performed in the interview.
  The candidates who get selected must pay a non-refundable seat acceptance fee of INR 10,000.

Admissions 2024 for m.Phil.

The institute provides a 2-year M.Phil. program in computational linguistics. The initial 2 semesters are devoted to teaching fundamental concepts in CL. During the final semesters, applicants are required to participate in research projects and submit their theses.

 Selection Criteria for M.Phil.

• The PGEE entrance exam results are used to make the selection, and this is followed by an interview process.
• Only university administers the computer-based PGEE exam, which is administered at multiple locations throughout the city.
• Based on the university PGEE exam, the institute issues a merit list, and the shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview.
• The INR 10,000 seat acceptance fee must be submitted by those who will be selected based on their performance in the interview.

Admissions 2024 for Ph.D.

In nine specializations—CSE, ECE, CE, Bioinformatics, IT in Building Science, Computational Linguistics, Spatial Informatics, Computational Natural Sciences, and Cognitive Science—the institute provides Ph.D. courses. The course is available for at least 5 years.

Relevant courses pertaining to the students' selected fields of interest are offered during the first two semesters of the Ph.D. program. The students must then pass a qualifying exam before moving on to the defence of their doctoral proposals. A Ph.D. candidate receives their degree upon the successful completion of their thesis research and defence.

• The University alone administers the computer-based IIITH PGEE exam, which is administered at multiple locations throughout the city.
• A merit list is available on the institute's official website once the results are announced, and it is based on the entrance exam.
• Those who make the short list are next asked to an interview, where they must choose their area of specialisation and provide a statement of purpose.
• The INR seat acceptance fee must be submitted by those who will be selected based on their interview performance.

Admission 2024 for PGSSP

The PG Student Status Programme (PGSSP) is intended for professionals in the workforce who wish to continue their education. Full-time and part-time options are available. This 2-year program at university has a total fees of between INR 70,000 and INR 1 Lakh. It is dependent upon whether the applicant has selected one or two courses. It is a credit-based course, and the institute accepts applications for it during the spring and monsoon semesters each year.

The selected PGSSP courses have 2 or 3 sessions held during the week (Mon-Sat). At least 1 course and at most 2 subjects per semester are required of candidates.

Must have finished any of the following degrees: MCA, M.Sc. in Mathematics, ME/M.Tech, or B.E./B.Tech.

SElection Criteria for PGSSP

Candidates are admitted based on their professional and academic backgrounds

• Strong work experience gives advantage to candidates.
• There isn't an entrance exam for admission at IIIT Hyderabad.
• All selection-related material is sent by email only by the institute.
• For a single registration, there is an application fee of INR 1000.
• It is mandatory for selected applicants to provide a "No objection certificate" from their company.
