Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Admissions 2024-25

Originally called The College of Engineering, Vishakhapatnam, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Kakinada was founded in 1946. Its 5 engineering departments offer a wide range of UG, graduate, and doctorate courses.

  • In addition to its 2 constituent colleges, university is connected with several private colleges.
  • Applicants wishing to enrol in university courses are required to take the entrance exam, which is administered by university on behalf of APSCHE.
  • Admission to a variety of professional programs provided on university campuses and in private colleges associated with Andhra Pradesh will be granted through this entrance exam.
  • In order to be considered for admission to the university's UG programs, applicants must have passed at least 12th credits.
  • The AP-EAMCET (Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test) is the basis for admission to UG programs.

The GATE results are recognised for admission to the M.Tech program in the case of PG studies.

Residents of Andhra Pradesh may use the AP PGECET to apply for PG courses.
Candidates are selected for the university's MBA and MCA programs based on results from the AP ICET, which is administered by Andhra University, Visakhapatnam on behalf of APSCHE.
The basis for selecting candidates to Ph.D. programs will be their performance in the AP RCET, which will be followed by an interview.

25% of the total number of points that will be consideration for ranking is the qualifying percentage of marks for the AP-EAMCET. However, there is no minimum qualifying score required for candidates who are members of Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe.

PG in concerned discipline by UGC approved institute. The minimum marks in PG should be 60% for OBC and other categories and 55% for SC/ST. The candidates with English, Arts and Commerce discipline have the benefit of 5% relaxation.
The admissions are done on the basis of Written test and Personal interview. The minimum qualifying marks for the written test is 40% for OBC and Other Categories, for SC/ST is 25%. For the candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR/NET/SLET need to appear for only Personal Interview.
  • The AP RCET will be the foundation for admission. The Directorate of Admissions will make the final decision.
  • The entrance exam will be given for 180 marks.
  • There will be 2 sections to the entrance exam, Parts A and B.
  • 90-point Part-A: Teaching and Research Aptitude
  • For 90 marks, Part-B will be the subject-specific portion.
  • The relevant university department will contact qualified candidates for interviews or viva-voces based on their performance in the entrance exam.
  • Before a committee that has been duly constituted, the candidates will be expected to give a presentation on their study field or interest.
  • 20 marks will be awarded for the interview.

  • Last year, a total of 29,012 candidates out 32,323 appeared for the state level exam.

Out of 29,012 candidates, 26,577 candidates for the examination.

Gender-Based Statistics:

  • For Engineering Exam- Male candidates outnumbered female candidates for the Engineering Exam; 13,938 of the 14,850 male candidates who took the AP PGECET qualified. Conversely, 8171 out of the 8709 female candidates who took the exam qualified.
  • Pharma Exam -Female candidates outnumbered male candidates in the Pharma exam. Of the 3190 female candidates who took the exam, 2748 were found to be eligible. Of the 2257 male candidates who took the exam, 1816 were deemed eligible.

Procedures for Selection

B.Tech/B.Pharm.

  • The candidate's performance in the EAMCET (Engineering, Agriculture & Medical Common Entrance Test), which is administered by JNTUK on behalf of APSCHE, will determine whether or not they are admitted to the B.Tech and B.Pharm programs.
  • The test will take place online and last for three hours.
  • There will be 160 questions in it.
    40 in Physics, 40 in Chemistry, and 80 in Mathematics
  • Every right response will result in one mark.
  • As of December 31st of the entrance year, the candidates must have reached the age of 16.
  • The maximum age is not specified.

B. Arch.
A legitimate NATA score will be the basis for admission.

GATE/GPAT or PGECET scores will be used to determine admission to M.Tech and M.Pharm programs.

  • There will be an online exam.
  • There will be 120 MCQs in total.
  • The exam will be administered in English.
  • Applicants are exempt from appearing in the AP PGECET if they have valid GATE/GPAT scores.
  • Those who make it past the deadline will need to sign up for counselling.

Counseling

  • The shortlisted applicants will be contacted for AP PGECET Counselling following the results announcement.
  • Applicants will be contacted based on their merit and the results of their GATE or GPAT and AP PGECET exams.
  • Counselling sessions for GATE or GPAT qualifiers will be held independently.
  • A prescribed fee (INR 600 for general candidates and INR 300 for SC/ST candidates) must be paid in order to participate in the admissions process.
  • Verifying your documents is the first step in counselling, after which you can continue with online counselling.
