Hyderabad, Telangana is home to Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, an authorised state university. Established in 1985, the university has UGC approval. The NAAC awarded it a "B" rating for accreditation as an autonomous institution. In the state of Telangana, this university is the first to use CBCS curriculum. The university offers UG, PG, Ph.D., diploma, certificate, and regular as well as distance learning courses in a variety of subjects, including linguistics, dance, drama, theatre, journalism, Jyotisha, and folk and tribal lore. It also provides courses for non-Telugu speakers living in other Indian states and international students. PG Diploma and Certificate programmes in Music, Astrology, and Film Direction are under the self-financed category.
The university provides eight certification programs, nine specialisations in diploma courses, and a BFA course for UG students. The minimum qualification for all of these is 12th. University provides 6 MA specialisations, 4 MPA specialisations, and MCJ courses that need graduation for postgraduate students. The university also provides PG courses, such as 11 PG Diploma programs and 8 specialisations under Ph.D. programs.
All students at University receive coaching for the NET and other government competitive examinations. Additionally, it provides SC/ST students with remedial coaching in spoken English. Telugu Vaani, a tri-monthly magazine, was also published by the university.

Scholarships for University
Students enrolling in research-level degree programs such as M.Phil and Ph.D. are eligible to apply for research fellowships from the university. For all students in ordinary courses who fall under the category of economically disadvantaged students, the university waives the tuition price. Candidates who fall under the SC, ST, OBC, or EWS categories are eligible for scholarships from the university through the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Department.
