National Law University and Judicial Academy, Guwahati

The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) was founded as the 14th National Law University in the country by the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 (Act No. XXV of 2009), and is headquartered in Guwahati, Assam's capital city. This Act was later revised as the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (Amendment) Act, 2011 (Act 2 of 2012), with the word 'School' replaced by 'University'. 
The objectives of the National Law University, Assam are to impart comprehensive legal education and training at all levels to achieve excellence in legal education; to promote research in all branches of law; to disseminate legal knowledge by organizing lectures, seminars, symposia, workshops, and conferences on contemporary issues of law to promote legal awareness in the communities to achieve social and economic justice; and to promote cultural, legal, and ethical values.

Highlights of University

University Assam offers a 5-year integrated B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) program that combines Social Sciences and Law. It follows the semester system. It also provides 1-year PG course (LL.M.) with specializations in various groups. This University's Chancellor is the Honourable Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.

Eligibility criteria:

• The candidate must have passed the 12th examination with at least 50% in the aggregate (45% for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities).

Admission Procedures:

The admission will be entirely based on the candidate's performance in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).

University Placement:

As part of the academic curriculum, and to offer students with the chance to see and comprehend societal realities and issues, the University invites students to participate in internships during the semester breaks of June - July and December - January each year.
