National Law University and Judicial Academy Admissions 2024-25

National legal University & Judicial Academy of Assam (NLUJAA) is a well-known independent legal school in the state. University is dedicated to developing new ways in both legal education and research. The institution offers B.A., LL.B. as a 5-year integrated course, and LL.M. as 1-year degree program. The university also provides a Ph.D. in law.

Admission to University is based on competitive entrance examinations, followed by a Counselling Session organized by the relevant entrance examination. Candidates must pass the CLAT to pursue B.A., LL.B., and LL.M. degrees.

In the case of the Ph.D. programme, the candidate must take the University's entrance examination. Following the entrance examination, candidates may be required to attend an interview. It should be mentioned that candidates with specific qualifications may be excluded from the admission exam.

B.A. LL.B. Admissions 2025 University

The University B.A., LL.B. programme is a 5-year integrated degree. The programme has a maximum intake capacity of 60 seats each year. To be admitted to this programme, the candidate must have completed 12th or equivalent with at least 50% marks.

To be eligible for admission, students must pass the CLAT exam. Applicants who are preparing for their qualifying examination may also apply and take the test, provided they pass the relevant examination and present proof of results at the time of admission.

Eligibility Criteria:

Passed 10+2/Equivalent with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD) Candidates should be below 20 years. (22 years in case of SC/ST/PWD)

Seats: 60

Once the candidate has passed the CLAT, they will be invited for a counselling session, where they will be assigned seats in the college of their choice. The selection of candidates will be based on merit. The selected candidates must provide the required documentation and pay any admission fees that may apply. Candidates in the reserved category must present the requisite documentation from the respective competent body to prove their claim to the reservation.


Admission 2025 for LLM

University LL.M. is 1-year degree curriculum. Students could select to study a General LL.M. or a specialist degree. To pursue a specialized LL.M., the student must take at least 4 electives out of 6 in their desired specialism. The programme has a total admission capacity of 10 spots per year.

Candidates must have completed a 3-year or 5-year integrated LL.B. degree with at least 55% marks to be eligible for admission to this programme. To be deemed eligible, the individual must pass the CLAT entrance exam. Candidates who are taking or awaiting the results of the qualifying examination may take the entrance exam if they present proof of results during counselling.

Eligibility :

Shortlisted candidates must attend the CLAT authorities' counselling sessions. To confirm their spot, students must pay the required cost at the time of counselling.

Admission 2025 for Ph.D. Program

University Ph.D. program is an attempt by the school to emphasize the importance of legal research. The programme can be completed full-time or part-time. The full-time course must be finished in 3 years, whereas the latter may take up to 5 years.

The candidate must have earned a Master's Degree in Law with at least 55% marks. Judges from the High Court and the Supreme Court may also apply for the curriculum.

In addition, candidates must pass the University's Admission Test. Candidates who meet specified conditions are excluded from taking the test. Candidates who passed the entrance exam, as well as exempted candidates, will be required to submit a preliminary proposal. Candidates will be invited to an interview based on their merit and the preliminary proposal.    

Eligibility Criteria:

Passed Master’s Degree in Law with at least 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST/DAP) Candidates with Master’s Degree in any discipline with at least 55% marks are also eligible if their research has a special focus on Public Policy or Law. Judge of any High Court in India with 3 years’ experience/ Judge of the Supreme Court of India. Passed the Company Secretary Examination by ICSI and awarded Associate Membership of the Institute if the research has a focus on Public Policy or Law. Passed the final examination of ICAI, New Delhi.

Selection Criteria:

Qualify the Admission Test conducted by the University. Those who have qualified UGC NET/JRF/SLET/M.Phil. and Judge is exempted from the Admission Test.

Candidates who pass the admission test and interview will be provisionally admitted to the Ph.D. programme. These candidates will thereafter be required to attend a course run by the university. After successfully completing the programme, students should submit a research proposal to the Research Committee. The finalists will be given ample opportunities to submit their final proposals. After the final presentation of the research proposal, the candidate will be granted permanent admission to the Ph.D. degree programme.

University Ph.D Admission Test consists of 25 multiple-choice questions and 5 short descriptive questions (out of ten). The division of marks is stated below:

To qualify for the Ph.D Admission Test, students must obtain at least 55% (50% for SC/ST).

Syllabus for Ph.D Admission Test: MCQs would be based on Legal and Logical Reasoning. Questions for descriptive and essay writing will include Contract Law, Jurisprudence, Personal Laws, Constitutional Law, International Law, Criminal Law, Human Rights Law, Environmental Law, Corporate Law, and Intellectual Property Rights.
