Patna University Admissions 2024-25

The university offers courses in the UG, PG, and doctoral curriculum with different specialisations. All the courses are functioning in various fields, and some of them are arts, science, commerce, education, management, law, medicine, and others. There are 10 constituent colleges under which diploma courses and multiple courses are offered by the university. With the guidance of dynamic faculty members, the university has bagged 'Grade B+' accreditation from NAAC. The university is approved by BCI and AICTE. Students can apply for university both online & offline. The university accepts some national-level exams, which are CAT, BLET, MEET, and MLET, for the admission process.

At UG level, several courses are offered, such as B.A, B.Sc., B.Com., BBA, BFA, etc. To be eligible for all these UG programs, students must pass intermediate level. For admission to these courses, the university conducts PUCET, Students need to appear in this entrance exam and must obtain a qualified score to be selected. For being eligible for a B.Lib.Sc., LLB, & B.Ed. course, candidates need to complete graduation. Students must secure qualified marks in BLET & BEET exams, respectively, to be selected.

Along with conventional courses, the university offers professional courses too in the PG program. Traditional courses like M.A., M.Sc., and M.Com. and professional courses like MBA, M.Lib.Sc., MCA, and LLM are offered by the university. Interested candidates should have graduation. The university grants admission in both merit and entrance-based. For different courses, different entrance exams are accepted by the university. As for LLM & M.Ed, students need to score qualified marks in MLET & MEET for final selection. For admission to M.A. & MBA, the university accepts CAT/MAT/ATMA/JMET scores, followed by GD & PI.

At doctoral level, the university offers Ph.D. courses in a handful of specialisations. Some of the specialisations are economics, geography, Sanskrit, statistics, mathematics, sociology, and several others. To be eligible for a Ph.D. program, students need to complete a PG in the same field with 55% marks from a recognized university.

Selection will be made on the basis of PAT score. Apart from all these regular-based programs, the university provides admission to diploma, PG diploma, and certificate courses too. Students will be selected on the basis of their previous qualifying results.

The university also offers a few courses under the Distance Education program. Courses like B.A., B.Com., B.Lib.Sc., BCA, and PG Diploma are offered by the University in Distance Education program.

Admission 2024 for UG Program

The university has diverse courses to offer in the UG curriculum. B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., BBA, B.Lib.Sc., BFA, BSW, LLB, & B.Ed. courses are offered in multiple specialisations by the university.

For being eligible for UG courses, candidates are required to complete 12th with a minimum percentile. Eligibility for UG Courses

  • For BA, BA (Hons.), BBA, BFA, B.Com. (Hons.), and BSW courses, students must pass 12th with 45% marks.
  • For B.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hons.) courses, the eligibility criteria are to complete the intermediate level with 45% marks with PCM subject combination.
  • For LLB, B.Lib.Sc., graduation with honors and with 45% marks in aggregate, respectively.
  • To be eligible for a B.Ed. course, a bachelor's degree in any stream with 50% marks in aggregate or a bachelor's in engineering or B.Tech. with 55% marks or a master's degree in any stream. 

 Selection Criteria

  • To be selected for B.A., B.A. (Hons.), B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons.), BBA, BFA, B.Com. (Hons.), and BSW courses, students need to appear in PUCET conducted by the university.
  • For selection to B.Ed. and LLB courses, students must secure a qualified score in BEET & BLET.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Students must graduate from an accredited university with at least 45% marks to be eligible for M.A., M.Sc., or MSW programs.
  • A B.Com, BBA, or BBM degree is a prerequisite for admission to an M.Com program.
  • Candidates for the M.Lib.Sc. program must have completed the B.Lib.Sc. program at an accredited university with 50% overall.

Details of the PAT Entrance Exam

For admission to Ph.D. programs, University administers the Ph.D. Admission Test (PAT). Candidates who are interested can download the admit card and apply for the PAT from the official website. Students must have passed masters degree with 55% to be eligible for the PAT. The criteria for selection will be the PAT scores attained. There will be two papers, each worth 100 marks.

Details of the BEET Entrance Exam

For admission to the B.Ed. program, University administers the Bachelor of Education Entrance Test (BEET). The purpose of this exam is to select candidates for the Women's Training College and Patna Training College, 2 teacher training colleges. Both the Patna Training College and the Women's Training College have a total of 100 seats available. The exam is at the state level. The completion of a bachelor's degree in a comparable discipline from an accredited university is the minimal requirement for qualifying.
