Located in New Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India, Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) is an independent law institution. UG, graduate, and doctorate programs are available at university for students wishing to explore careers in law.

In order to choose students for UG, graduate, and PG studies, many entrance criteria are taken into account. Students are selected for UG and PG programs based on their CLAT results, and for Ph.D. programs. Candidates who meet the requirements must appear for an admission exam held by university.

Admissions 2025 for BA.LL.B 

The university provides BA.LL.B courses at UG level for those who wish to explore careers in law. The BA.LL.B program lasts for 5 years.

The Common Law Admission Test score is the only factor used to determine a candidate's admission to the aforementioned course. There are 160 places available for intake.

Important Things to Remember:

  • Candidates who are SC or ST should be granted a 5% eligibility relaxation.
  • Students from the state of Chhattisgarh (the domicile) are allocated 50% of the seats.
  • SC candidates are entitled to 15% of all seats in India and 12% of seats in the state of Chhattisgarh.
  • ST candidates are allocated 7.5% of seats in all of India and 32% of seats in the state of Chhattisgarh.
  • OBC candidates are entitled to 14% of the state domicile seats in Chhattisgarh.
  • At the national level, 3% of seats must be reserved horizontally for individuals with disabilities (PWDs).
  • PWD and Dependants of Freedom Fighters (DFF) candidates who are Chhattisgarh-only candidates would each have 3% of the seats reserved horizontally.  
  • 30% of seats would be horizontally reserved for female candidates at the state (Chhattisgarh State Domicile) and national levels in India.

Admissions 2025 for LLM

The LL.M. program at University is offered for a year and is divided into 3 trimesters. There are 47 seats available in total for admission.

The candidate's Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) score is the only factor used to determine their admission to the LL.M. program. However, a candidate must have earned an LL.B./B.L. degree or an equivalent degree from an accredited university with at least 55% of the possible points (50% for SC and ST candidates) in order to be eligible to appear in the CLAT.

Important Things to Remember:  

  • Candidates who are SC or ST should be granted a 5% eligibility relaxation.                    
  • SC candidates are allocated 15% of the seats.                           
  • ST candidates are allocated 7.5% of the seats.          
  • Under the supernumerary quota, 2 seats are designated for the wards of Kashmiri migrants.
  • 3% of seats must be set aside horizontally for people with disabilities (PWDs).            
  • All seat categories will have 30% of the seats reserved horizontally for female candidates.

Admissions 2025 for Ph.D. Program

Ph.D. programs are available at University for students who want to conduct legal study. There are 15 students enrolled in this two-year program.

Candidates who meet the requirements must take an admission exam and then go through personal interview with the university.

Important Things to Remember:

  • Candidates who are SC or ST should be granted a 5% eligibility relaxation.
  • Per the regulations of the Chhattisgarh State Government, there will be a reservation for admission to the Ph.D. (Law) program.
  • Candidates will not need to take the entrance exam if they have been selected for the UGC NET program (Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)/lectureship) or SLET.

  • The application fees is RS 3500 for ST/SC candidates and Rs 4000 for GEN/OBC candidates.
  • Students can use debit or credit cards or net-banking to pay the application fees online.

Procedure for Ph.D. Program Applications:

  • The application form must be downloaded by candidates from the official website.
  • Complete the form and submit it to the institution with a draft of your demand.
  • The application fees is Rs. 1000 for ST/SC candidates and Rs. 1500 for GEN/OBC candidates.
