The Indira Gandhi Krishi Viswavidyalaya is a coeducational agricultural institute that was established in Raipur in 1987 by means of a State Legislature Act. It has recognition from the ICAR and is associated with the UGC. Through a variety of UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs, the university focusses on teaching knowledge about agriculture and related sciences and emphasises combining technology with traditional methods to enhance the socioeconomic conditions of the rural people.
The college provides 4 Ph.D., 5 PG, and three UG courses. It is mandatory for students to review the eligibility requirements listed on the official website.
The University has been recognised by the ICAR and has been given approval by the UGC to offer all professional degrees. The institution has been placed 10th by ICAR in the list of Best Agricultural Universities in India 2018.

Scholarships for Students
Fellowships and Scholarships A merit scholarship of between INR 1500 and 1800 is available to 5–7% of UG and graduate students. A portion of students are given full or partial scholarships.
