Pandit Ravishankar Shukla institution, also referred to as PRSU, is a state institution founded in 1964. University offers UG, PG, PG Diploma, Diploma, Doctorate, and Post Doctorate programs. It has 29 departments and 156 affiliated colleges. The results of the entrance exam administered by the institution determine admission to university for all courses. The university accepts scores from the CoMAT, the national level test, for admission to its MBA program.

University provides a range of full-time, 2-year, and 1-year courses in the following areas: education, science, management, engineering, pharmacy, arts, science, law, and so on. MA, M.Sc., MCA, MBA, M.Ed., LLM, M.Pharm, MSW, M.Tech, M.P.Ed., and M.Lib.Sc. are among the PG degrees that university offers. University offers a 1-year PG diploma in a variety of fields, including guidance and counselling, forensic science, applied hydrogeology, rehabilitation psychology, regional planning and development, etc., in addition to ordinary postgraduate courses. The primary prerequisite for enrolment in PRSU's regular and certificate postgraduate programs is completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university. All PG admissions are determined by the results of the entrance exam.

University provides 3-5 year full-time Ph.D. program at the doctoral level. Thirty-one specialisations, including Economics, Psychology, History, Physics, English, Hindi, Geography, Sociology, Law, and many more, are available in the Ph.D. program at university. The prerequisite for enrolment in doctoral-level courses is PG degree from an accredited university or board.
