In 1956, the Indian Law Institute, Delhi was established with the aim of advancing and carrying out legal research within the country. It provides PG Diploma and LL.M. programs in various specialisations. Online law certificate and doctorate programs are also available from Indian Law Institute (ILI). Applicants for admission to the LL.M. and Ph.D. programs may apply online at the Indian Law Institute's official website by paying an application fee of INR 2500 for the LL.M. and INR 3000 for the Ph.D.
The ILI Common Admission Test (ILICAT), national level entrance test, is used to select candidates for the LL.M. program.
The ILI bases admission to P.G. Diploma programs on the grades received in the qualifying exam.
The Institute administers a written exam for admission to Ph.D. programs, which is followed by an interview and presentation.
Those with an M.Phil. or who have completed the UGC NET, SLET, or GATE are not required to take the Ph.D. admission exam. These candidates are just need to appear for the interview stage.

PG law courses at 1-year LL.M. and PG Diploma levels are provided at ILI Delhi. Applicants to the LL.M program are selected based on their ILICAT scores. The basic eligibility criteria for LL.M course is Bachelor’s degree in law. Diploma from any stream may be required for PG Diploma programs.

Admissions 2024 for Ph.D.
Those who want to apply for Ph.D. must first get Master of Laws . An entrance exam is used to determine admittance, which is then followed by personal interview and presentation on the subject.
On the date specified by the Institute, all eligible candidates are required to present to the Admission Committee on the suggested research topic.

Note: Applicants who meet the requirements for the UGC-NET, JRF, SLET, or M.Phil are not required to take the admission exam.
Entry to ILI, Delhi Ph.D. Test pattern: For candidates who have not qualified for the UGC NET/JRF, SLET, or M.Phil, a written exam lasting 3 hours will be administered. There will be 2 papers on the written exam.
The candidates who made the short list will be contacted to present their research proposal and then have an interview. The Research Plan that each candidate for the exempted category submits with their application will determine which individuals make the short list. On the day the Institute notifies them, all eligible candidates must present their work to the Admission Committee on the suggested research topic.
