Under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the National Museum Institute of the History of Art, Conservation, and Museology is an independent institution of higher learning for the study of history, conservation, and museology. The Institute is situated in Janpath, New Delhi, and is a deemed university.

Admissions 2023 to MA Program
The National Museum Institute provides 2-year MA programs in various disciplines. A graduate degree in the pertinent field and a strong academic record with at least 50% of the required marks must be held by the candidate. Employees in the armed forces with at least 5 years of regular duty and the previous requirements who work for the federal government, state government, autonomous organisation, universities supported by the federal government, or nongovernmental organisation (NGOs) may also apply.
In all three fields, admission to MA programmes is determined by a written exam and interview. A combined Selection Committee conducts the interview following the assessment of the answer booklets.

Key Point: Knowledge of one classical/foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, Italian other than mother tongue will be an additional qualification at the time of admission to MA course.
Admissions 2023 for Ph.D.
The National Museum Institute also provides Ph.D. research opportunities in a range of artistic, conservation, and museum disciplines. Applicants for admission to the Ph.D. program must have a Master's degree in the relevant field or its equivalent from an accredited university with at least 55% marks.
Employees in the armed forces with at least 5 years of regular duty and the previous requirements who work for the federal government, state government, autonomous organisation, universities supported by the federal government, or nongovernmental organisation (NGOs) may also apply.
The Research Advisory Committee will conduct an interview and administer a written exam to determine who gets admitted to the Ph.D. programs.
