National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi
The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, founded the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, in 1962 as a UNESCO Regional Centre. In 2006, NIEPA attained university status. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given it approval. It is situated next to the campuses of the Indian Institute of Technology and NCERT on Sri Aurobindo Marg, south of New Delhi, across from the Qutub Hotel.

Admissions at University

- Direct Admission by Merit: Seats in general programs are filled directly by merit, which is determined by the results of the most recent qualifying exam.
Admission Through Management Quota: Admission to a limited number of - Management Quota seats for programs that are based on entrance exams as well as direct admission. All programs are subject to the main fee when enrolled in Management Quota.
Selection Process:
- Applications will be initially shortlisted based on the quality and applicability of the brief description of the suggested topic of study that is sent with the application form. A written test will be required of the shortlisted candidates, and those who pass will be interviewed personal to determine their ability and motivation. This will result in a final shortlist and the creation of a panel of selected candidates arranged according to merit.
- NIEPA would abide by all mandatory clauses in the Indian government's reservation policy. Admission to M.Phil., Ph.D., and part-time Ph.D. programs will be granted entirely on the basis of merit, in accordance with the university's established standards.
- The University retains the right to determine the number of seats to be filled in 2020–21, the requirements for application screening, and the process to select applicants for admission to its M.Phil. and PhD. programs.
Fellowship of University
- 10 fellowships each have been established by NIEPA for M.Phil. and Ph.D. students. Fellowships are awarded in accordance with guidelines established by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
- Candidates who have passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) and received a Junior Research Fellowship from UGC-CSIR are also eligible to apply for the fellowships. However, through their respective organisations, the fellowships would be made available to the NET-qualified candidates. Each quarter, student must demonstrate good performance to continue receiving the fellowship.
