The Akhil Bharatiya Sanskrit Sahitya Sammelan established Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha in 1962. It is a Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan member, with University Grants Commission (UGS) approval and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation.
Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha offers admission to diverse programmes such as B.A., M.A., B.Ed., M.Ed. & M.Phil. to students through a Regular course. It also offers Ph.D. programme with 171 seats and almost 19 areas of specializations. Candidates who have qualified their 10+2 exam are eligible to apply for the B.A. course and the institute offers 20 specializations in this programme. Admissions 2024 to BA Program
University offers Bachelor of Arts degree in various fields over the course of 3-4 years. The minimal criterion for admission to University is 10+2 with 40% marks. Admission will be based on the scores received in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
Eligibility Criteria
- To apply for B.A. courses , candidates must have passed their 12th level exam or equivalent test with Sanskrit/ Uttar Madhyama/ Prak Shastri administered by the State Board or from another recognised Board or Institution.
- Passing the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) administered by the NTA.
- Candidates must be at least 16 years old.

Selection Criteria:
- The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores will be used to identify BA candidates at university. CUET consists of three sections:
- Section I- is further divided into Sections IA and IB. Candidates have to select one language from a list of 13 in Section IA, and one from a list of 20 in Section IB.
- Section II -is a domain-specific part in which candidates must select up to 6 domains from a list of 27. Candidates should carefully consider the domains they select, as these will be the deciding element in their institution choice.
- Section III It is a general test in which applicants will be evaluated on the basis of basic general questions such as General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning, Logical and Analytical Reasoning.
Candidates must select the following subject when appearing for the CUET:
- Candidates who wish to enrol in Shastri courses must select Sanskrit as their language of choice on the CUET.
- Candidates for BA Yoga admission must take the CUET language test in Hindi or English.

University offers 2-year PG M.A. courses. The M.A. degree contains 20 specialisations and is a full-time program with 38 seats given per discipline. Candidates for admission to this course must hold Bachelor's degree from a recognised university. For selection, candidates must pass the University's Entrance Test.

- Candidates applying to M.A. courses provided by university must have completed 3-year Bachelor's Degree in Shastri/B.A. with Sanskrit or an equivalent test.

Admissions 2024 to B.Ed. Program
University offers 2-year UG level B.Ed. curriculum. It's a full-time course with 200 seats. Candidates seeking admission to this degree must have passed graduation-level arts test. For selection, candidates must pass the All India Combined Entrance Test.

Admissions 2024 to M.Ed. Program

Admissions 2024 to M.Phil Program
University offers 1-year M.Phil. programmes in Yoga, Ved-Vedanga, Darshan, Sahitya, and Sanskrit. The M.Phil program has 20 specialisations that are full-time studies. Candidates for admission to any of the M.Phil. programmes must hold a PG degree.
Eligibility
- Candidates must have PG degree with minimum 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever grading is used), or an equivalent approved degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation agency.
- For SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently Abled and Other Categories candidates, 5% mark reduction from 55% to 50%, or an equal grade relaxation, may be allowed as per the Commission's judgement from time to time.
- Candidates must be at least 22 years old.
Selection Criteria:
- The selection process for any of the M.Phil. courses is based on the scores received in Vidyapeetha's Regular Course Entrance Test.
- Students who have completed examinations outside of the Indian Universities system and may not have received a Master's degree in relevant disciplines may be considered, provided that each case is reviewed on its own merit by the Admissions Committee and in accordance with the recommendations of the Equivalence Committee.
Admissions 2024 to Ph.D.
University provides Ph.D. programmes that last between 3 and 6 years. The Ph.D. program is divided into 4 fields of research, with 20 specialisations. Candidates for admission to Ph.D. programs must hold Master's degree in the relevant discipline. Additionally, a valid VVET exam score is required.
- Candidates must hold a master's degree with at least 55% aggregate marks, or an equivalent grade 'B' on the UGC 7-point scale.
- Candidates who completed M.Phil. course work with 55% marks or equivalent grade 'B' on the UGC 7-point scale and successfully completed the M.Phil. Degrees can proceed to pursue research work leading to a Ph.D. degree in the same institution through the integrated program.
- For SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently Abled and Other Categories candidates, a 5% mark reduction from 55% to 50%, or an equal grade relaxation, may be allowed as per the Commission's judgement from time to time.
