Goa University Admissions 2024-25

Admission to Goa University in 2024 is determined by merit or entrance exam results. Goa University usually starts the admissions process in February or March. Through its associated colleges, the university offers undergraduate courses in a variety of subjects, while its several schools and departments offer graduate courses. Through its nine accredited institutes, Goa University also admits students to research programs like M.Phil. and PhD.

 Scores on qualifying exams are used to determine admission to undergraduate programs like BA, BBA, B.Sc., BCA, BSW, etc. Candidates must pass the Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART) in order to be admitted to postgraduate and B.Ed. programs. The results of several national and state-level entrance exams, including GCET, GATE, NATA, NEET, and CMAT/CAT, are also accepted by Goa University for admission to its B.E./B.Pharm, M.E., B.Arch, MBBS, and MBA programs, respectively.

Admission to Goa University for B.E., B.Arch, and M.Tech programs in 2024:

BE, M.E., and B.Arch programs are available at Goa University in various specialisations. The university offers several courses in full-time format. The minimal qualifying requirement for admission to B.E., M.E., and B.Arch programs is that students have completed 12th with PCM.

 Entrance to the BE program is determined by a candidate's performance in the Goa CET (GCET), which is administered by DTE, whereas entrance to the B.Arch program is determined by a valid NATA score. If there are still openings, admission to M.E. programs is contingent upon a GATE score or a departmental entrance exam administered by the university.

2024 UG Admission:

Undergraduate programs offered by University include BA, B.Sc., B.Com., BBA, BCA, BSW, LL.B., B.Ed, and B.P.Ed. Enrollment in these programs is contingent upon meeting eligibility requirements and passing the screening procedure. Admission to UG program requires minimum 12th from an accredited board.

Admissions for the 2024 Goa University MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, B.Pharm, and B.Sc. (Nursing) programs:

At UG level, University provides courses in MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, B.Pharm, and B.Sc. (Nursing). With the exception of the B.Pharm program, for which students must take the Goa CET administered by DTE, admission to all courses is contingent upon a valid NEET UG score followed by university-based counselling.

Admission to PG at University in 2024:

Among other PG programs, University provides MA, M.Sc., M.Com., MBA, MCA, and B.Ed. The university's colleges and departments provide courses in various fields. Candidates must have passed bachelor's test in the relevant field in order to be admitted to PG programs. Admission to the majority of PG programs is determined by the merit list, which is created using the rank earned in pertinent topics on the Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART). A legitimate result on the CMAT or XAT, followed by an interview and GD, will determine admission to University for MBA programs.

M.Phil. and Ph.D. Admission 2024:

Research-level M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs are available at University in various fields. Interested candidates may apply online or in person when the application process opens in December. The minimal requirement for admission is a master's degree in a related field.

To grant admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs, University administers its own entrance exam and interview process.

Selection Criteria for Ph.D. :

The University Ph.D. Entrance Test (GU-PET) is required for admission to Ph.D. programs. Candidates will be chosen based on their performance on the entrance exam and in-person interview.
Seats at University will be given based on the results of the JRF, M.Phil, NET, SET, GATE, and GPAT exams. Open seats will be filled based on GU-PET's merit. Note: The university-based entrance exam is not required of applicants who have passed exams like as the CSIR-NET, UGC-NET, JRF, lectureship, SET, SLET, GATE, ICAR, ICMR, DBT, or DST-Inspire.


Ph.D. applicants must pay an application fee of INR 600 (INR 350 for restricted categories). Candidates who are exempt from the admission exam must pay an application fee of INR 2000.

Documents required at the time of admission:

  • 2 current passport-sized photos
  • Birth Certificate from Competent Authority; Mark Sheets from Prior Qualifying Exam.
  • Caste and, if relevant, a legitimate certificate.
  • Certificate of departure or transfer from the most recent school or college attended.
  • Original Income Certificate from Panchayat Non-Migrant Caste Certificate
    Certificate of Physical Handicap (if applicable).
  • For NRI candidates, the Competent Authority issues an OCI/PIO Card or other document.
  • A certified copy of the passport or a comparable document attesting to the individual's Indian citizenship

Reservation at Goa University:

Reservations are available at Goa University to qualified applicants in a number of categories. The following is how seats in different courses are reserved:

  • Candidates in the SC category are entitled to 2% of the seats in each PG program.
  • Minimum one seat, or 12% of the seats in PG program, will be set aside for candidates who fall under the ST category.
  • Minimum two seats, or 27% of the total seats, would be set aside for candidates from other backward classes (OBC).
  • According to State Government regulations, 5% of the total seats—at least one—must be set aside for candidates with disabilities.
  • 1% seats will be set aside for children of former service members.
  • 10% of the seats, with minimum one seat and at most seats available for each program of study (with the exception of the MCA and MBA programs), will be made accessible to applicants from other universities.
  • 15% seats are set aside for international applicants who meet the requirements for admission and are suggested by the Indian government through an exchange program or scholarship (ICCR Program).
  • In accordance with UGC directives, one seat in each program will be set aside for Kashmiri Migrants (KM) out of the 15% supernumerary seats.
