University was founded in 2008 under the UGC Act of 1956. The Chitkara Educational Trust manages the University. It is an NAAC-accredited, government-recognized university. It manages 2 schools: Chitkara School of Engineering and Technology in Chitkara and the School of Hospitality Management.

University provides BE, ME, and Ph.D. programs in various specialisations. The University also offers 3-year Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Hotel Management.

• The basic requirement for BE admission is that candidate have 12th with at least 60% marks.
• Admission to BE is based on JEE Main.
• The candidate for admission to the ME course must have BE/B.Tech. with at least 55% marks or an equivalent CGPA.
• Selection to M.Tech. is based on admission exam scores and performance in a personal interview, both of which will be performed by the University.
• For Ph.D., the candidate must have PG degree with at least 60% marks.

Admission Highlights of University

Admission 2024 to BE Program

The University offers BE courses in 3 specialisations. The courses are also available through lateral-entry admission program for Diploma holders. The Chitkara School of Engineering and Technology offers BE courses.

To be eligible for the BE course, candidate must have 12th exams with at least 60% marks and 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics . For B.E (lateral-entry) admission, the candidate must have Diploma in Engineering from State Government's Board of Technical Exam with at least 60% marks.

The University counsels all qualified applicants for admission to B.E. courses. Selection is based on JEE Main results. The counselling date will be notified following the release of the JEE-Main results.

• Only applicants born on or after October 1, 1996 are eligible to apply for the course.

Admission 2024 to ME Programs

The institution provides 2-year full-time ME program with 3 specialisations. The Chitkara School of Engineering and Technology offers the PG course. For admission to the ME program must have BE/B.Tech. with 55% or equivalent CGPA in the qualifying exam .

Selection is based on previous year's academic performance.

Admission 2024 to B.Sc Program

The University provides 3-year full-time B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration at UG level. The course is provided at the Chitkara School of Hospitality Management.

The minimal qualifying requirement for B.Sc. is that the applicant have 12th in science.

The University conducts the admission procedure for the B.Sc. course, which is based on the candidate's performance in the qualifying exams.

Admission 2024 to Ph.D. Program

The Ph.D. program at the university is offered in 4 subjects. Candidates to Ph.D. admission must have ME/M.Tech in a relevant discipline with minimum CPI 6.5 or 60% (or) a B.Tech./BE (other than IIT) with minimum CPI 8.0 or 75%, or a Bachelor's Degree from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with minimum CPI 7.0 or an M.Sc. in a relevant field with minimum CPI 7.5.

The Ph.D. program admission standards are based on the University's entrance test and interview process.

The application fees of INR 1100/- to be provided along with the form by Demand Draft in favour of Chitkara University, payable in Chandigarh.

Required Documents: 

• Attested certificate and Class 10 and 12th mark sheets.
• Migration Certificate from the previous Board/University.
• 2 recent passport-sized colour pictures with your name and date of birth clearly visible on the back.
• Copy of Rank Card/In case result has not yet been released, a copy of Admit Card for class 12th and JEE-MAINS 2018 is required (only for B.E. admission).
• If there is a hiatus in your education, you must submit an affidavit signed by an Executive Magistrate/Notary.
