Central University of Kashmir, Srinagar

Central institution of Kashmir, often known as CU Kashmir and formerly the Central University of Jammu and Kashmir, is a government institution in Srinagar, Kashmir. Established in 2009, the university's main campus is in Tulmulla. University provides more than 40 UG, graduate, PG diploma, research, and vocational programs.

B.Tech, MBA, BALLB, M.Ed, and LLM are prominent courses at the Central University of Kashmir. The NTA administers the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), which is used to admit students to the majority of CU Kashmir's UG and graduate programs.

Admissions at University

Admission to all programs at University is undertaken once a year. Every year, the application procedure for admission to university begins in June. Candidates seeking admission may apply online using the university's official admissions portal. The NTA conducts the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), which is used to admit students to most UG and PG programs. 

The university administers its own entrance exam (CUKAT) for admission to B.Voc, M.Ed, and PG Diploma programs. University accepts national-level entrance exams for B.Tech, M.Tech, and MBA programs, respectively. Candidates should be aware that the university also held GD and PI sessions for the final selection of various programs. 

 Application Procedure

Every student at the University has access to placement options. The university's placement rate is between 50 and 60%. Every year, many reputable companies come to the school to recruit students. Scholarships for Students

University can benefit from various scholarship programs offered by the government. However, the scholarship is only awarded if the prerequisites are fulfilled, and students are only allowed to obtain a single award at a time. Before applying for these scholarships, students must visit their regional centre to review the conditions; they can only do so through the official website. The following scholarship schemes are provided by the government:

Merit Cum Means Scholarship For Professional and Technical Courses CS:

Eligibility:

• The family income of the applicant should not exceed 2.5 lakhs per annum.
• Students should have at least 50% of marks in the previous final exam. 

Mode of applying:

Students must apply for this scholarship online. Fill the form online, attach the documents required and submit it.

Benefits:

• Scholarship worth 20,000 INR every year for UG and PG courses.
• Maintenance allowance up to 1000 INR per month for hostlers and 500 INR per month for the day scholar.

Scholarships for Top Class Education for students with disabilities:

Eligibility:

• The specially abled student should have a valid certificate with more than 40% physical disability. 
• The family income should be 6 lakhs and not more than that. 
• Students should pursue an UG or a PG course. 

Mode of applying:

•  The interested students can apply for this scholarship on the official website 

Benefits:

• The price for books and stationary will be covered up to 5000 per year. 
• Maintenance allowances will be covered. 3000 INR per month for hostler and 1500 INR per month for a day scholar. 
• Tuition fee will be covered up to 2 lakhs per annum. This amount is variable depending upon the fee of the course.
• 45,000 INR, a one time allowance will be given for devices used for studying (laptop/desktop) 
• Other allowances such as helper or escort allowances will be covered for 2000 INR per month.

Top Class Education Scheme for SC students:

Eligibility:

• Students have to be enrolled in a full-time course at a recognized university.
• They have to be an Indian citizen.
• They have gained admission under the general category seats of the college/university.
• Their family income should not exceed 8 lakhs per year. This number includes earnings from every sources
• In one family, only 2 siblings are allowed to enrol and benefit from this scholarship. It is because of the high competition
• Candidates with a strong academic background with weaker economic conditions will be preferred
• 30% reservations from the total scheme population are reserved for the SC girl child. 

Mode of applying:

Candidates must go to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment's official website to submit an application. They must first log in and sign up as new applicants before filling out the application form, uploading all required files, and submitting it.

Campus & Facilities at University:

The campus of the University spans 503 acres. Currently, the university operates out of 4 campuses. The main campus, located in Tulmulla, is surrounded by beautiful scenery and spans a large area. The institution also has 3 more campuses: the Science Campus, the Arts Campus, and the Green Campus. With 9 schools operating under 22 departments, university provides many programs. The following are the facilities offered by University:

Transportation: University bus service is available to students at University. At the moment, it has nineteen (19) vehicles of all kinds. Students can check each bus's route on the university's official website before using the transportation service.

Library: Since its establishment in 2009, University Library System has endeavoured to fulfil the informational and educational needs of its patrons. The library is located in the same building as other departments on every campus.

Healthcare Unit:  University places a great priority on the health and happiness of its staff and students. To facilitate the provision of general medical care, first aid, and referral services to employees and students, a health clinic has been established. Two medical officers have been assigned to the university's two health clinics, the Tulmulla Campus Health Centre and the Green Campus Health Centre.
