In 2018, the National Accreditation Board of ICAR placed SKUAST, which was established in 2008, 13th out of all State Agricultural Universities. In the several districts of the state's Kashmir and Ladakh divisions, it operates its academic operations through 13 research centres, stations, and institutes, 13 Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and one Extension Training Centre. The university is accredited by AICTE and has UGC approval.

The Sher-e-Kashmir The state's University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) is university with priority on agricultural engineering. The Agriculture section at the institute offers various courses.

• Candidates must have PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)-compulsory upper secondary education (10+2) from an accredited board or university.
• At least 50% marks must have been obtained (or 40% for protected categories).

• For applying to soil & water engineering and farm machinery & power engineering specializations, candidates must have qualified in Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering.
• For applying to processing & food engineering specialization, candidates must have qualified in Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering/ Food Engineering/ Chemical Engineering.

Selection Criteria:

For admission to M.Tech courses, the students need to pass an entrance test called University Entrance Test (UET-2016) held by University.

Admission 2024 to Ph.D.

Agriculture, veterinary sciences, fisheries, horticulture, and forestry are 5 fields in which the university offers Ph.D. programs.

• They must pay INR 1,500 for UG courses and INR 3,000 for graduate and doctoral studies using a credit/debit card, net banking, or an e-challan created during the online application process.
• Candidates must take the University Entrance Test for admission to classes at university.
