The Indian law school known as the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL) is situated in Ranchi. Act No. 4 of 2010, passed by the State of Jharkhand, established it as India's 14 national law institution. The university has affiliations with both the Bar Council of India and the UGC.

The university offers UG, graduate, and doctoral programs with a focus on law. The university provides the B.A.LLB. program at UG level and the LLM program at the graduate level. The university offers Doctor of Philosophy programs, which are shortened as Ph.D.

• To get admission to 18 of the most top National Law Schools, candidates wishing to register for B.A.LLB program must take the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
• CLAT is used to accept applicants to the LLM program.

Admission 2025 to BA.LLB

The UG Bachelor of Law (LLB) program at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL) offers a career-focused legal education with multiple specialisations. The training on law lasts for 5 hours. Applicants who wish to study for a profession in law at university must possess 12th degree or its equivalent from an accredited university.

Admission 2025 to LLM Program

The university offers 4 Master of Law (LLM) specialisations at PG level of 1 year duration. Candidates must have UG LLB degree from an accredited institution or university to be admission to the LLM program.

For the convenience of students applying to different National Law Universities across the nation, the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), a non-statutory organisation established under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is used for admission to students to LLM programs.

Admission 2025 to Ph.D. Program

Research-based Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs in the field of law are offered by university. To be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program, candidates must obtain an LLM degree. An entrance exam is used by the university to make the selection process. The selection of candidates for the referenced course is based on their exam performance.

Important Note:

• The Ph.D. program is residential. Thus, it is mandatory for students to stay in the university-provided hostel throughout the duration of their studies.
• The Ph.D. program has a deadline. Therefore, to be qualified to receive a degree, students must finish their degree programs within the allotted period. An extension of the time needed to finish the programs is not provided for.

Ph.D. Application Procedure:

• It is recommended that applicants for admission to the Ph.D. program apply online at university's official website. Only candidates for Ph.D. admission may complete the online form.
• The application form is available for candidates to select up personal at the university. 

The National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi, At-Nagri, Kanke-Pithoria Road, Kanke, P.O.-Bukru, Ranchi-834006 (Jharkhand) is where properly completed applications must be sent.

A bank draft for the application fee of Rs. 2,500 must be included with every application. The Registrar, NUSRL, Ranchi, and Ranchi, Jharkhand, must receive the draft from any bank.
