Located in the state of Jharkhand, Ranchi University is a teaching and affiliated university. The university was established in 1960 and is a state institution. The university currently provides vocational courses in various specialisations in addition to UG, graduate, and research programs. University now includes 49 affiliated colleges, 15 component colleges, and 23 PG departments. All courses have entry or merit-based admissions.

• Admission to the MBA program is determined on the results of the CAT, MAT, CMAT, and ATMA exams.
• Admissions for M.Tech programs are determined by GATE exam results, which are then followed by CCMT counselling.
• While admission to MD and MS programs is determined by the results of the NEET-PG exam, entrance to MBBS and BDS programs requires the results of the NEET-UG exam.
• Admission to the B.Sc. and M.Sc. nursing programs is based on the candidate's qualifications.
• For admission to B.Tech programs, valid score in JCECE or JEE Main test is must.
• For admission to the B.Ed. program, applicants must take the entrance exam conducted by the university.
• Admission to the LLB program is determined by a candidate's performance on the previous qualifying exam.

Admission 2024 to MBBS, BDS, Nursing Program

4 UG medical stream courses are available at the university. Candidates for MBBS and BDS must have 12th grade, with physics, chemistry, and biology as required courses. Following the state counselling session, the NEET-UG score will be used to make the selection. The candidate must have IA, ISC, or ICom exams and obtain diploma in general nursing and midwifery to be eligible for Basic B.Sc. Nursing. The candidate must also have 12th grade with PCBE topics, obtaining 50% marks overall. Both courses will be admitted on the basis of merit.

Admission 2024 to B.Tech Program

The university provides 4-year B.Tech program with 9 different specialisations. Passing marks 12 with physics, chemistry, and math as required subjects is the minimal requirement for B.Tech. The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) or JEE Main scores will be used to select the candidates. If there are still openings after selecting candidates based on their JCECE and JEE Main scores, the candidates would be selected based on their Class 12 scores. However, the applicant must apply directly through the university's website for this.

Admission 2024 to BA, B.Com, B.Sc Program

The university provides 3-year general and honours B.Sc., B.Com., and B.A. programs.12th grade is required for admission to the BA, B.Com., and B.Sc. (Pass and Hons.) programs. Merit-based admissions will be used.

Important Note:

The entrance requirements will be reduced by 5% for candidates who belong within the SC, ST, or OBC categories.

Admission 2024 to M.Tech Program

The Cambridge Institute of Technology offers the M.Tech program with 2 specialisations: mechanical engineering (CAD/CAM) and civil engineering (structural). There are 18 seats available, and the program lasts for 2 years. The total fees of M.Tech course is INR 2,13,200 for each of 4 semesters. The GATE entrance exam will be used to select the candidates. The candidate will be contacted for counselling after being selected for further consideration on the GATE merit list.

Admission 2024 to MD & MS Program

The university provides 2-year MD and MS programs with various specialisations. Candidates may apply for the course if they have an MBBS degree or a provisional one that includes a year-long required internship. The All India Entrance Exam, or NEET PG, will be used for selection.

University Admission 2024 to MBA Program

The Institute of Management Studies (IMS) offers 240 places for 2-year, full-time MBA program. The annual fees of the general and OBC MBA programs is INR 20,000. Selection for the course are based on Entrance exams like the CAT, MAT, CMAT, and ATMA. The candidate's previous academic record, professional experience, group discussion, and personal interview will all be considered after the entrance exam.

Admission 2024 to M.Com., M.A., M.Sc. Program

Courses offered by the university include M.Tech., M.Sc., MBA, M.Com, M.A., M.A./M.Sc., LLB, and B.Ed. 6 two-year specialisations are available for M.Tech. programs. Candidates must have B.E. or B.Tech program in the relevant field with at least 60% marks to be eligible for an M.Tech. GATE scores together with Centralised Counselling for M.Tech. (CCMT) will be used to make the selection. To be eligible for an MBA, a candidate must have entrance exams at the state or national level, have a strong academic record, have job experience, and have gone through a round of personal interviews and group discussions. A bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline is required for various PG courses to be eligible and selected based on exam merit.

Admission 2024 to M.Phil and Ph.D. Program

At the doctoral level, the university also offers M. Phil and Ph.D. Candidates must hold a Master's degree (M.Sc., M.Com., or M.A.) in the relevant field with at least 55% marks to be eligible to apply for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs. The entrance exam and either counselling or an interview are the requirements for admission to M. Phil and Ph.D. programs. Ph.D. and M. Phil programs last 1–2 years each.

Key Note:

For Ranchi Institute of Neuri – Psychiatry & Allied Sciences  (RINPAS )

1. M.Phil and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and in Psychiatric Social work are the courses conducted under the RINPAS department.

2. There is no provision of reservation for the Ph.D. course.

3. Fluency in English is a desirable aspect of applying.

Admission 2024 to Vocational Courses

University also offers vocational courses such as M.Sc., PGDMP, and PGDBPT. The minimum eligibility for M.Sc. Biotechnology, PGDMP, and PGDBPT is a bachelor’s degree. The selection will be done on the centralized entrance test (CET) score.

Application Procedure 2024 

Candidates can complete out the application and submit it offline to apply for any of the university's courses. The following steps outline how to complete the application form. Comply with their instructions and register.

For UG and graduate courses:

1. Click on University's official webpage.
2. To access the UG/PG Admission Form Sample for Students, click on it.
3. Fill out the application by downloading it, signing the declaration, and providing the required information.
4. Together with the required documents, the candidate must deliver the form to the university's address.

5. The candidate must obtain a crossed DD for the appropriate amount and submit it with the completed application and required paperwork in order to pay the registration fees.

For an MBA:

1. The Online Supplementary Application Form (OSAF), which may be accessed on the official website, must be completed by the applicant for admission to the MBA program.
2.  University is the direct source of the OSAF copy and other documentation for the candidate.
3. Immediately following OSAF submission, the candidate will receive a PDF copy of the OSAF in their email, which they must print out on A4 paper along with the required documentation.
4. The student can now pay the INR 500 application fee at RANCHI in the form of an A/C payee DD made payable to "Vocational A-1 MBA COURSE."

For M.Phil. and Ph.D. (RINPAS):

1. Download the application form sample by visiting the official websites of Jharkhand University or Ranchi University.
2. Provide the required details on the application form.
3. Together with the other pertinent documents, affix the self-attested photocopies of the last year's mark sheet (for the P.G. course or M.Phil.
4. Along with the application form, you must now submit the registration fee in the form of a demand draft (DD) for INR 1200 (or INR 600 for Jharkhand ST/SC candidates) made payable to the Registrar of University.
5. Now deliver the application, DD, and supporting documentation to the Controller of Examinations' office at university.

For Vocational Courses:

1. The application form is available to candidates at the Basic Science Building, Morhabadi, Ranchi University, University department of Botany.
2. The candidate must pay the application form fees in order to receive the form.
3. The form fee is INR 800, and it must be paid from any bank in Ranchi in the form of a crossed cheque made payable to "Vocation A-1, Biotech," Ranchi University, Ranchi.
4. On the back of the DD, the applicant must also put their name and the course they are applying for.
