Admission to university is determined by the results of national exams. Additionally, the institute conducts written exams for M.Sc and MS programs. JEE Main scores are used to determine admission to iM.Tech (B.Tech + M.Tech). GATE scores are part of the university M.Tech admissions process. A written exam and PI round are required for admission to the M.Sc in Digital Society program. This year's PG admissions have been closed by the institute.
Fees of Courses
Courses | Fees |
B.Tech + M.Tech 2 Courses | Rs 4.64 Lakhs |
M.Tech 2 Courses | Rs 4.66 Lakhs |
Master of Science [M.S] (Research) | Rs 1.28 Lakhs |
Master of Science [M.Sc] (Digital Society) | Rs 3.84 Lakhs |
Ph.D. 7 Courses | Rs 1.54 Lakhs |
Admissions 2024 to M.Tech Program
Rather than offering 4-year B.Tech program, university offers 5-year Integrated M.Tech. CSE and ECE are the areas of expertise for iMTech (B.Tech + M.Tech). The JEE Main rank determines admission to the program. The institute itself determines the cutoff ranks for admission. ECE and CSE program preferences are also offered to candidates who meet the cutoff ranks. A candidate will be allowed under preference-1 if they are only interested in available specialisations. However, preference-2 admission will be granted to students who are interested in both areas. Based on the number of seats available, admission to the program is then granted.
Course | Specializations | Eligibility | Selection Criteria |
Integrated M.Tech | Computer Science and Engineering Electronics and Communication Engineering | First-class in 12th (or equivalent) with Mathematics | Score of Paper-I of JEE (Main) |
The grades obtained in JEE Main paper 1 will determine admission to the course. The 3rd week of March is when the application forms for admission to IIITB's Integrated M.Tech program are expected to be available.

Admissions 2024 to PG Program
GATE results are accepted by university for M.Tech program entrance. For final admission to M.Tech programs in CSE or ECE, the GATE results in the CS/IT or EC paper are consideration. Only the institution releases the GATE cutoff rank needed for admission. Students with GATE scores up to 650 were enrolled to university's CSE program in 2021. The final rank accepted for the ECE course was 620.
The institute conducts a written exam and then a round of personal interviews for admission to the M.Sc program in Digital Society. Candidates who have received valid scores on the CAT, CEED, CUCET, or TISS NET are not required to take the written exam conducted by university. For final admissions, candidates who pass the written exam or the national level exam are invited to the interview stage. Candidates are shortlisted by the institute based on their performance in the PI.
The following table lists the fundamental criteria needed to apply for the program:
Courses | Specialization | Eligibility | Selection Criteria |
M.Tech | Computer Science and Technology Electronics and Communication | A valid GATE score in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Instrumentation Engineering | Admission will be based on the performance in GATE |
M.Sc | Digital Society | UG degree (of at least 3 years duration) in any discipline with a first division/class | Entrance exam and Interview |
International applicants and non-resident Indians (NRIs) wishing to register in PG courses at university must hold 4-year UG engineering degree in a computing-related field (CS, EE, EC). The applicant must additionally provide genuine GRE and TOEFL scores, with the exception of those from Anglophone countries (i.e., Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, the UK, and the US).

Admissions 2024 to Ph.D. and M.S Program
Admission to the MS/Ph.D. program at university is determined by a written exam and a round of personal interviews. Based on selected area of study and their legitimate GATE, GRE, CSIR-UGC NET, UGC-NET, JEST, and NHBM exam results, candidates are shortlisted. Candidates are excused from the written test round if they have a valid score from any national exam. The candidate's performance during the interview round determines who gets accepted into the programs. The MS/Ph.D. admissions eligibility requirements and selection procedure are shown in the table below:
Courses | Specializations | Eligibility | Selection Criteria |
Ph.D. | Computer Science Data Sciences Electronic Systems Design Networking Communication & Signal Processing Software Engineering | Master’s degree in engineering or M.S. by Research/ M.Sc (Research), or M. Tech., M.E., or equivalent | Previous academic record, research statement, prior research experience, recommendation letters, written tests & interview |
Master of Science (Research) | - | Bachelor’s degree in engineering (B.Tech., B.E., or equivalent) | previous academic record, research statement, previous research experience, recommendation letters, written tests & interview |
