Karnataka Veterinary, Animal, and Fisheries Sciences University in Bidar, Karnataka, is a state university established in 2004 with the express objective of developing teaching and research in the fields of veterinary, animal, and fisheries sciences. It was established by the Government of Karnataka under the Karnataka Act 9 of 2004 and is sanctioned by UGC. It is one of the pioneer institutes that conduct research in this field of science and offers various courses at the UG, PG, Diploma, and doctoral levels.

The college has approximately 10 research centers to keep up with research activity. It also includes 8 component colleges. The college provides all required facilities for its students.

University offers various UG and PG courses. This institute also offers Ph.D.s in various areas, as well as diplomas.

Aside from the courses listed above, the college also offers B.V.Sc at UG level and Diploma course in Animal Husbandry.

Admissions 2024

Admission to UG courses is based on the marks obtained in the KEA's Common Entrance Test, whereas admission to PG courses is based on the candidate's performance before qualifying exams as well as the written entrance test. The institution also provides the coveted MBA course in the field of food business, which requires passing a written test, followed by a general discussion and an interview. For Ph.D. admissions, the university conducts a separate entrance exam, followed by oral interview.

Steps to apply

• This application works in offline mode. The application form must be downloaded online or obtained from the administration together with the prospectus for their appropriate program (UG, PG, Ph.D., or diploma).
• Once you receive the form, fill out all of the essential information, including your name, category, DOB, parent's information, mobile number, address, previous academic qualification details, and passport-sized photos and signatures.
• Then, fill out the written exam ticket for the selected specialization (the course you wish to take in that program).
• The applicant should properly fill out the index card that indicates the topic group to which admission is required.
• The completed application form should be submitted to the Registrar office, KVAFSU, along with the application fee, to Nandinagar, PB No.6, Bidar, on or before the last day of submission, since applications received after the deadline will be rejected.
• Candidates will be selected depending on their performance in the previous qualifying exams, written entrance test, and counselling (PG and Ph.D.).
• The final list of selected candidates will be accessible on the college's website.

The Placement Cell at University offers various options to students and ensures that as many as possible are placed with excellent packages. Scholarships for Students

University provides a University Resident Merit Scholarship for each of the disciplines offered in the Masters program. In each academic year, the amount is INR 800 per month, and for Doctoral Degree Programmes, it is INR 1,200 per month, and it is exclusively available to students who have graduated from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, Dharwad, and KVAFSU, Bidar. Students from SC/ST and other categories can also apply for several scholarships offered by the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka.
