Tumkur University Admissions 2024-25

University was established in 2004 and is located in the state of Karnataka. It is a state university accredited by the NAAC with 'B' grade. The UGC acknowledged the university as an Institute of National Eminence. The Karnataka State Higher Education Council in Bengaluru recently classified the university as 'Three Star' institution under the Karnataka State Universities Rating Framework (KSURF).

University offers various UG, graduate, and doctoral courses. The University contains 24 PG departments, 19 UG departments, 2 constituent colleges, and 94 affiliate colleges.

It developed 29 research centers that promoted advanced transdisciplinary research and academic collaboration. Applications for UG and doctoral programs are accepted in May, and graduate programs in July. Students can submit their applications within 3 weeks of receiving notified. Academic quality will be used to select students for UG courses. Admission to PG courses will be dependent on the counselling procedure. MBA and MCA admission would be granted directly through KEA, Bengaluru. All Ph.D. programs require candidates to take an admission exam and personal interview.

Note:

  • Candidates must be at least 17 years old at the time of application.
  • The candidate must have/ be in the final year of the qualifying exam, i.e. 12th from CBSE / ISC / State Board or an equivalent.
  • To be eligible for Social Work, students must have studied subjects from the Science stream.

Eligibility criteria:

Eligibility criteria:

  • MCA program requires BCA with 50% marks.
  • To be eligible for an MBA, individuals must have at least 50% in graduation.

Selection Criteria:

  • The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) in Bengaluru conducts direct selection for MBA and MCA programs. For admission to MBA/MCA programmes, applicants must take the PGCET-MBA/MCA test. This test is conducted to both Karnataka residents and inhabitants from other states.

Selection Criteria:

Except for the MA in Mass Communication, selection will be done through counselling based on merit. Candidates seeking admission to PG courses must take written test conducted by the university.

  • Candidates who have been shortlisted based on their admission test scores are invited to personal interview. The final selection is based on the candidate's overall performance.

Steps to Apply:

  • Applicants seeking admission can acquire the application form from the State Bank of Mysore, Tumkur University branch, by paying the application fee of INR 350 by challan.
  • Aside from that, candidates can acquire a form by sending a DD of INR 350 in favour of the "Finance Officer, Tumkur University payable at Tumkur" along with an A4 size self-addressed envelope with an INR 50 stamp to the provided address.

The University also provides higher education options to qualified applicants. It offers Ph.D. programs in both full-time and part-time modes.

Basic Selection Criteria:  Through college Entrance exam followed by interview round

Key entrance points: Those from reserved categories receive 5% relaxation (i.e., 50% minimum).

  • Candidates will be given 2 application forms to complete: Form A and Form B.
  • Candidates who have not passed UGC/CSIR (JRF), SLET/K-SET/GATE, or a teaching fellowship must complete Form A.
  • Candidates who have received a UGC/CSIR (JRF)/SLET/K-SET/GATE or teaching fellowship must fill out Form B.
  • Candidates who have UGC/CSIR (JRF)/SLET/K-SET/GATE or a teaching fellowship are not required to take the Entrance test. Their performance in the qualifying exam will thereafter be given additional weightage. However, if they select to take the entrance exam, they must Form A and pay separate application expenses.
  • Candidates who fill out form B will be shortlisted based on the following weightages:
    Interview: Master's degree = 50:50.

Eligibility criteria:

  • University Ph.D. admission is through an entrance exam followed by a personal interview.
  • Doctoral candidates must hold Master's Degree with at least 55% grades.
    The university also accepts GATE, JRF, and SLET scores for Ph.D. admission.
  • A candidate holding an M.Phil. degree from University is also qualified for the Ph.D. program.

Selection Criteria:

The selection procedure includes an entrance test indicated to evaluate the candidate's aptitude for the subject in question.
Candidates must additionally attend personal interview, which may include questions based on research or subject-specific knowledge. The final merit list is based on the cumulative performance in the entrance test and interview.
