Osmania University is a public state university in Telangana that is situated in Hyderabad, the state capital. It has received recognition from the UGC and a "A+" grade from the NAAC. The second-oldest university in South India and the seventh-oldest in the nation is Osmania University. By NIRF 2023, OU is ranked 36th out of all the best universities in India. With more than 720 affiliated colleges, University is the biggest affiliated university in Asia. The university comprises 53 departments, 5 constituent colleges, and 8 campus colleges in addition to it.

More than 130 courses are available at University including UG, PG, Ph.D., PG Diploma, and Certificate programs. 12 faculties—including those that specialise in science, humanities, management, education, pharmacy, engineering, law, and more—offer the courses. Admission to University is granted based on both merit and results from entrance exams. Merit in the qualifying exam determines admission to the UG programs. For admission to PG studies, University administers the Common Postgraduate Entrance Tests (CPGET).

Scholarships at University

• Only students who attend the institution for at least 75% of the time, have paid all of their fees—including those for the library and dorms—and have an acceptable academic record are eligible to receive scholarships.
• Students who wish to enrol in postgraduate studies can apply for a variety of scholarships, including LBC, EBC, and SC/ST scholarships.
• Additionally, the scholarship is awarded based on the recipients' poverty. The economically poor persons scholarship (EPP) is the name of this scholarship.

Health clinic:

The institution has set up a free medical clinic for staff, students, and their families. On all working days, the hours are 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. University's associated colleges are each home to a health centre on the campus. 

Banking facility:

University's Arts College building features a State Bank of Hyderabad branch located on the ground level. This Bank is the only way to do any University-related fee transactions. Every working day, the bank is open from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Post office:

Stamp sales, money orders, savings bank accounts, Speed Post, registration, and other services are provided by the post office. It operates from nine in the morning till 6 in the evening. It is housed in the building of the arts college.
