The MHRD established IIIT Surat as a non-profit PPP engineering school. An Institution of National Importance designation has been given to IIIT Surat. Engineering undergraduate and graduate degrees are available from IIIT Surat. IIIT Surat is being run out of SVNIT, which acts as a makeshift campus. IIIT Surat's permanent campus is presently being constructed.

BTech is IIIT Surat's primary program. Four years of BTech degrees in two specializations are available at IIIT Surat. For the CSE and ECE branches, the placement rates were 93.75% and 81.63%, respectively. The JEE Mains cutoff rank is used to determine admission to the courses, and then there is a counseling process.

IIIT Surat Campus

Currently, IIIT Surat is run out of the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) temporary campus. During the first two to three years while the new campus is being constructed, SVNIT will serve as the institute's mentor. On property near Kamrej in the Surat region, which was given to the Gujarati government, the new academic building was built.
