IIT Guwahati is one of India's major public technological university, it is founded in 1994, is nestled on the calm northern banks of the Brahmaputra. In the newly released QS World University Rankings 2024, university is ranked 32nd internationally in the 'Research Citations per Faculty' category and 364th overall. According to NIRF 2023 rankings, IIT Guwahati is rated seventh in the Engineering category. The institution provides over 160 courses at the UG, graduate, and doctorate levels. University has completed its placements for the year 2023. During these placements, 1112 offers were extended to university students. The highest domestic package offered by university was INR 1.1 crore per year, whereas the highest overseas package was INR 2.4 crore per year. University recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Samagra Shiksha Assam (SSA) to promote scientific temper in Assam's public schools. University Incubation Center has nurtured 42 start-ups to develop an entrepreneurial ecosystem among students. Furthermore, University is home to the BioNEST, a Bio Incubation Center financed by BIRAC (Government of India).
