The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences was founded in 1993 and is the first institution worldwide that only offers education to tribal students from low-income families. The school offers vocational training in addition to education for pupils from Kindergarten through post-graduation. Owing to steady and continuous improvement in the university's performance, KISS has been placed 189th out of the Top 500 NGOs worldwide and in the Top 10 in India by "NGO Advisor."

Students pursuing majors such as Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) are offered a total of fifty courses. The institute administers entrance exams or qualifying exams, and admission to the courses is granted based on the results of those tests. Admission to KISS Bhubaneswar
In order to be admitted to the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, applicants must meet the requirements for each course.
