In 2008, the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, approved Indian Maritime institution (IMU) in Kolkata as a central institution. In addition to its main 4-year B.Tech. program in Marine Engineering, it offers short-term courses connected to the sector as well as PG (M.Tech. and MBA) courses. For admission to both UG and graduate programs, the institute administers its own entrance exam (IMU - CET). Admissions at University
The university's IMU-CET entrance test cut-off is used to determine admission to UG and PG programs. The minimum requirements for admission to the B.Tech Marine Engineering program are a passing IMU-CET score of 50% and at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry,Maths and English in 12th. At least 60% BE/B.Tech in marks in Marine Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture and have qualified IMU-CET is the Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech. Marine Engineering and Management .At least 50% marks in graduation and qualified IMU-CE is the requirements for Admission in MBA International Transportation & Logistics Management .
