University of Hyderabad Overview

University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad

A parliamentary act created the University of Hyderabad (UOH) as a central university in 1974. It is a unitary university located in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, Hyderabad Central University (HCU). All the central universities in India, Hyderabad University has the largest campus space (2500 acres), second only to Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The university has a "A" accreditation from the NAAC and is acknowledged by the UGC as an Institute of Eminence. In the "University" category of the NIRF rankings, it is placed 10th among the best universities in India. 

Hyderabad University is renowned for its strong staff and excellent research, with a primary focus on PG study. The institution comprises more than 400 academic members, more than 5,000 students, and more than 40 departments spread throughout 12 schools of study. The University of Hyderabad provides over 100 programs that span from postgraduate diplomas and integrated master's degrees to doctoral studies. Through its Center for Distance and Visual Learning, the university also provides distance learning courses. 

All course admissions at the University of Hyderabad are determined by the results of the national entrance exam, which is followed by a personal interview and counseling. For a variety of disciplines, the university accepts scores from the CUET, JEE Main, GATE, CAT, and other admission exams. More than 70 domestic and foreign universities have inked Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with UoH for cooperative degree programs, research and development, student exchanges, and other purposes.

Admissions at University

Application Procedure for University

Step 1: Registration: All courses offered on campus at the institution need registration, which typically opens in May or June and runs through August. Nonetheless, the MBA and M.Tech admissions process begins a little bit sooner than the PG and Integrated PG programs, immediately following the announcement of the entrance exam results. Step 2: Interviews: In order to be admitted to certain PG, Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D., and Ph.D. programs, candidates must personally interview with the university.   • During the interview, you will be asked questions on a range of topics pertaining to the discipline for which you applied to be admitted.
  • The reason you are willing to enroll at the University of Hyderabad is one of the most often asked questions.
  • Candidates who have been shortlisted for Ph.D. admission and who are scheduled for a 30-marks interview must bring a 500–2500 word research proposal with them on that day. 


Step 3: Merit List: The university will make available a list of shortlisted applicants for counseling based on the results of the admission exam and, if relevant, interviews.

Step 4: Admission Counseling: On the specified date, shortlisted candidates are required to go to the campus for admission counseling. Those who are given a seat offer will also need to have their documentation verified. The following documents are needed:


  • Certificates of 10th and 12th
  • Bachelor's Degree Certificate (PG courses)
  • Marks Memo for Bachelor's Degree (for PG courses)
  • CUET scorecard for UG/PG
  • A copy of the UOH admissions application and a current passport-sized picture
  • Certificates of Migration and Transfer from the last school attended
    signed affidavits, medical declarations, etc. (available on the UoH official website)
  • SC, ST, OBC, NCL, EWS, PwD, and DP category certificates.

Step 5: Final entrance: After their documents are verified, candidates who are admitted must pay the entrance fee. Following the successful completion of the fee payment, admission will be granted. The admission fee for the first semester of the course is INR 8790/-for all candidates (PH excluded). The needed payment for all PH aspirants is INR 5,230.

JEE Mains Cutoff of University

The minimal rank needed to get admitted to the Integrated M.Tech program in Computer Science & Engineering is the JEE Main cutoff.

Scholarships for University

PMRF:

The University offers fellowships to Ph.D. candidates under the esteemed Prime Minister's Research Fellows (PMRF) Program, which is administered by the Indian government's Ministry of Education. The ultimate selection of candidates from the university's nominated list will be made by the PMRF selection committee based on overall performance. The fellowship for PMRFs would be as follows:

IDRBT Fellowship: PhD candidates will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 28,000 for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th years, and Rs. 25,000 for the 1st and 2nd years under this fellowship.

Hostels: Over 4500 students are accommodated by the university. There are 23 hostels total, with 9 being for girls and 14 for boys. The hostel has pleasant accommodations and all the amenities you might possibly need. Students may easily access the research departments because to the hostel's location on both the north and south campuses. The University fees INR 500 for room rent per semester. 

Canteens: Students can get breakfast, lunch, and dinner at any one of the roughly 7 canteens on campus.
