The Assam Agricultural University was established in 1969 at Jorhat, Assam. It is a UGC-approved university that provides undergraduate and postgraduate programs in agriculture, veterinary science, community and fisheries science, horticulture, and sericulture. University also provides research-level courses. Admissions to all degrees are merit-based, with the exception of B.Sc Veterinary Science, which is admitted based on the university's own entrance test, University VET.

Admissions at University
To be admitted to the B.V.Sc. and A.H. Veterinary Science courses, candidates must take the AAU VET entrance exam. Candidates from the General Category must also have at least 50% in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology to be eligible for admission to this degree. However, there is a 5% discount for reserved category students.
