Assam Agricultural University

The Assam Agricultural University was established in 1969 at Jorhat, Assam. It is a UGC-approved university that provides undergraduate and postgraduate programs in agriculture, veterinary science, community and fisheries science, horticulture, and sericulture. University also provides research-level courses. Admissions to all degrees are merit-based, with the exception of B.Sc Veterinary Science, which is admitted based on the university's own entrance test, University VET.

To be admitted to the B.V.Sc. and A.H. Veterinary Science courses, candidates must take the AAU VET entrance exam. Candidates from the General Category must also have at least 50% in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology to be eligible for admission to this degree. However, there is a 5% discount for reserved category students.

Scholarships for University

University offers students the possibility to avail the following scholarships:

• State Merit Scholarship: Students from all departments in the state of Assam are eligible for this scholarship. Master's students must have a GPA of 7.5 or higher, while Ph.D. students must have a GPA of 8.00 or higher.
• INSPIRE Fellowship: The Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India provides this fellowship to Ph.D. scholars up to INR 2,57,600. Any student with the highest cumulative grade marks average is eligible for the scholarship.
• Rajiv Gandhi National Scholarship: The UGC offers this scholarship to postgraduate students from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes worth up to INR 3,00,000. 
• Bayer Fellowship: Bayer Crop Science Ltd. established the fellowship for Masters and Ph.D. students, which offers up to INR 1,20,000.
  The Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, offers the DBT Fellowship.
• ICAR JRF, ICAR SRF: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research provides SRF and JRF for PG students up to INR 3,30,690.
