Bihar Agricultural University Sabour, Bhagalpur

Bihar Agricultural University (BAU) is a state university located in Sabour Bhagalpur, Bihar. It was developed in 2010 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The university is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 22 of the UGC Act of 1956. University comprises 6 colleges (5 Agriculture and one Horticulture). It also includes 12 research sites located across three agro-ecological zones in Bihar. The University provides UG, PG, and doctoral programs in a wide range of agricultural and horticultural subjects.

Courses at University

University provides UG study in two fields, B.Sc. in Agriculture and Horticulture, that lasts 4 years or 8 semesters, and PG course, M.Sc. Agriculture, that lasts 2 years or 4 semesters. In addition, the university offers 3-year Ph.D. degree.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates for admission to both B.Sc. programs at the university will be selected through the BCECE (Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination), which is held each year by the Government of Bihar for 85% of the seats. The remaining 15% seats will be filled through the ICAR's All India Entrance Examination. The candidate must have completed 12th or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, or Math from a recognized board.
• Admission to M.Sc. Agriculture is based on admission test administered by the institution for 85% seats. The remaining 15% of seats are filled with ICAR-qualified individuals. The same course is exclusively open to students from Bihar. 
• The last qualification required for Ph.D. program admission is M.Sc. (Agriculture) with OGPA of 7.0. Admission to the research course is based on a university-based entrance test for 75% of the total seats, with the other 25% filled through the national level ICAR exam.
