The university was established in 2008. It is one of 8 new IITs established by the MHRD (Government of India). The UGC and AICTE have authorized university. The NIRF 2023 rankings place university 41st in the "Engineering" category and 66th in the "Overall" category.

University offers a wide range of BS, B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc, and Ph.D. programs throughout 11 departments and streams. University`s most popular course is B.Tech. Admission to the B.Tech program is based on JEE Advanced scores, followed by JoSAA counseling. The 1st-year price for university B.Tech course is INR 2.90 lakhs. Admissions 2024 at University

Admission to over 40 UG and graduate programs at University is available through a variety of national exams. To be considered for admission to the premier B.Tech program at Universioty, candidates must first obtain a valid rank in JEE Advanced, then proceed with JoSAA counseling. The B.Tech course seats are allocated online using JoSAA counseling, taking into account the applicant's rank, category, seat availability, and other variables.

Also, admission to PG programs like M.Tech and M.Sc. is provided by university. In order to be admitted into these well-liked programs, students must receive valid results from national admission tests, such as GATE and IIT JAM, and then advance through the PI round. In order to receive their final seat assignment, candidates who met the GATE requirements and were accepted into the University M.Tech program must take part in COAP counselling. In partnership with the Bombay Stock Exchange, University also provides 1-year Post Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence. Every weekend, the program runs for 3 hours each session.

 Scholarships 2024 for University

1. University provides a variety of scholarships under the Central Scheme Scholarships, including the Merit Cum Means Scholarship, to assist UG and PG students in meeting their educational expenses. Several of the institute's scholarships are listed here.
2. Scholarship by Merit Cum Means:  MCM scholarships are awarded by university to worthy and financially disadvantage UG and graduate students enrolled in 2-year M.Sc. programs. To be eligible for the MCM Scholarship, a student must have a minimum SPI/CPI of 6.50 and family income of no more than INR 4.5 lakhs annually. Recipients of the MCM Scholarship receive free tuition for 2 semesters as well as a monthly grant of INR 1000.

3. Elite Education Program for Students in the SC: The Scholarship was established expressly to provide financial assistance to SC students and to encourage the pursuit of an excellent education. 12 scholarships total are available from university to SC students whose family income is less than INR 6 lakhs per year. The entire fees of tuition is not required of students who are awarded a scholarship under the SC Scholarship Scheme. 4. UG students are eligible to apply for the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students, which is funded by the Department of Higher Education, MHRD. To be eligible for the Central Sector Scheme, students must have academic performance in 12th that is above the 80th percentile and parental income of INR 8 lakhs. To keep their scholarship, a student needs to have attended 75% of the classes and achieved at least a 50% on their most recent exam. INR 10,000 is paid to UG students, and INR 20,000 is paid to PG students. 

5. The Railway Protection Force's (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force's (RPSF) Prime Minister's Scholarship Program: The Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme for RPF/RPSF is available to the institute's UG students through the Ministry of Railways. Students who scored at least 60% in their 12th are eligible for the scholarship, and there can only be 2 wards per home. Male students receive a stipend worth INR 2000 per month, while female students receive a scholarship worth INR 2250.
