In 1951, Nava Nalanda Mahavihara (NNM) was founded. The University Grant Commission has granted the institute approval (UGC). Pali, philosophy, ancient history, culture, and archaeology, Tibetan studies, Sanskrit, and many other subjects are among the various subjects in which university provides degree, certificate, diploma, and research courses.

Eligibility Criteria:

• If a candidate has passed the fair qualifying exam from a foreign university or institution, they are not required to pass the entrance exam or proficiency test.
• It is necessary for candidates to pass the equitable qualifying exam in order to be eligible for the entrance exam.
• Applicants must be in possession of a valid residence permit or visa for the entire time the relevant course is offered.
• Candidates must meet the course requirements in English and Hindi with sufficient proficiency.
• The candidates' degrees and certificates should be approved by the AIU, CU, and IAU.

Facilities at University

Library: The University Library is well-stocked with 60,000 volumes, many of which are rare Tibetan manuscripts written in Xylographic character. In addition, books are provided free . The University Library is set in 2-story structure with 2 huge hallways and 16 research cubicles. The library is currently in the process of becoming automated.

Computer Lab: University has (NNM)'s largest computer lab can hold up to 25 students. The computer lab has the newest gadgets, internet access, and audio-visual capabilities and is completely air-conditioned.

Extracurricular Activities & Sports: Athletics have always been a vital component of the institution. On campus, there are facilities for both indoor and outdoor gaming. Nalanda Mahavihara (NNM) stresses and encourages students to take part in frequent elocutions and debates in accordance with the customs of the ancient Nava.

Hostel: Students can stay in hostels at the university. There are 3 student hostels at the college. The hostel provides dining areas and kitchens, as well as basic utilities like power and running water.
