Admissions at University
Admissions to the university's UG, graduate, and doctoral programs are determined by entrance exams, personal interviews, and merit. Most courses at University are admission-based. Before university-level selection process for official admission, candidates must pass the university-conducted/national-level entrance exam. With a 550-acre campus situated in Chandigarh's sectors 14 and 25, Punjab University offers excellent facilities and appropriate infrastructure to support the academic development of its students. Hostels: There are total 17 hostels that accommodate 6700 students, with 8 hostels for boys and 9 for girls. Every hostel features a canteen, dining hall, common area, and outdoor sports court. Each room has all the necessities in it.
Medical Facilities: Faculty and students from all branches are able to access medical facilities at the BGJ (Bhai Ghanaiya J) Institute of Health. Services are offered all the time. The BCJ at University is equipped with the most advanced digital and computerized radiological equipment, as well as a fully modern curative laboratory.
Sports Facilities: University offers both indoor and outdoor sports facilities, such as an international-caliber swimming pool, an athletic track, a gym, volleyball courts, cricket fields, netball courts, hockey fields, and football fields.
Library: The university's official library, the AC Joshi Library, is 5-story structure with 500 seats that is outfitted with computer and communication networks. The Library has approximately 8 lac publications in its collection, including books, reports, government documents, newspapers, and a valuable collection of 1492 manuscripts. SC/ST cell: Apart from these fundamental facilities, University was the first to establish a SC/ST department. The SC/ST cell's primary goals are to implement, review, and appraise the reservation policy and adhere to UGC laws.
