Punjab Engineering College University of Technology, Chandigarh

PEC, Chandigarh (Deemed to be University), formerly known as Mugalpura Engineering College in Lahore, was established in 1921 and is associated with the Punjab University. The university, which has a 146-acre campus, is a Grant-in-Aid program operated by the Union Territory of Chandigarh in India. The institute offers 8 UG, 14 graduate, and doctoral programs in engineering, science, business, humanities, and social science. Admission to UG and graduate programs is selected by national-level assessments known as JEE Mains and GATE, with 2 centers of excellence and nine academic departments.

While an M.Tech requires a graduate degree in a relevant field from an accredited university or institute, B.Tech requires only 12th education.

Scholarships at University

University offers various fee waiver programs to its students. All ST/SC students who have passed all of their exams up until the previous year and who are not on academic or disciplinary probation are eligible for a half-freeship on their tuition fees. Based on branch-specific merit, one student from each branch receives a Merit Scholarship, which entitles them to full tuition forgiveness. Students in economically disadvantaged sections, women, and those with disabilities are exempt from fees.

Library:    The 1,19,830 volumes in the Central Library's collection include books, standards, theses, and bound volumes of periodicals covering the social sciences, management, computer and information technology, engineering, and physical sciences.

Hostels:   Boys' and girls' hostels are located separately on campus. There are 6 hostels total, including 2 for girls and 4 for boys.

Festival:    Held annually in November, PEC Fest is a cultural celebration.

Periodical:     PECMAG is the institute's yearly publication that features literary and technical pieces written by students. Memoranda for final-year students are also included.

Extracurricular Activities:      Students can participate in a range of extracurricular activities through clubs such as IEEE, ISTE, Robotics, Projection, Rotaract, Energy and Environment, Speakers Association & Study Circle (SAASC), Art and Photography, Music, Dramatics, and Sports.
