Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi
India's top national institute for agricultural research, teaching, and extension is the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), also referred to as Pusa Institute. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is in the position of funding and overseeing the Institute, which is located in Delhi.According to the UGC Act of 1956, IARI is a "Deemed-to-be-University."
IARI provides candidates with M.Sc., M.Tech., and Ph.D. degrees in 26 different fields. The admissions list for M.Sc. and M.Tech courses is determined by the merit list from the entrance exam. The admission to the Ph.D. program at IARI is determined by the candidate's performance on the entrance exam (80% weighted), academic standing (10%), and interview (10%).
The current campus is a self-contained sylvan complex situated around 8 kilometres (5 miles) west of New Delhi on a 500 hectare (or 1250 acre) plot of land. There are 20 divisions within the Institute. There are 3 All India Coordinated Research Projects with IARI as the headquarters, 10 national Centres operating under the All India Coordinated Research Projects, 2 off-season nurseries, eight regional stations, and 5 multidisciplinary centres located in Delhi. It employs 3540 people in total, including scientific, technical, administrative, and support staff.

Ph.D. | Admission to the Ph.D. courses in 26 disciplines shall be made on the basis of the performance of candidates in the written entrance examination (80% weightage) + academic score (10% weightage) + interview (10% weightage). The entrance examination will consist of one paper of three parts : Part I (General Agriculture) and Part II & III (Subject Paper) and academic score shall be calculated on the basis of the percentage of marks obtained in various examinations from matric (X standard) onwards. |
Admission 2024 at University
Admissions for the Indian Agricultural Research Institute for 2024 are now open. The Ph.D., M.Tech, and M.Sc programs all have a standard application process. Payment Methods
Online mode: A bank draft (DD) for INR 500 (General category) and INR 250 (Reserved category) made payable to the Registrar, Post Graduate School, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, is required if the application form is obtained online from the institute's website.
By Post: Enclose a crossed demand draft (DD) for INR 575, a written request for an application, and an information bulletin that makes known the candidate's correspondence address.
Personal: Pay INR 500 (INR 250 for restricted category) personally at the Pusa Campus Syndicate Bank.

Scholarships for Students
According to the Standing Committee on Scholarships, Financial Assistance, and Academic Progress' recommendation, IARI grants Junior and Senior Scholarships to its PG and Ph.D. students who are admitted under the General Open Competition Scheme.
The candidates are awarded the scholarship based on their performance and acceptance to the PG program. Junior/Senior Scholarships have terms of 2 years and 3 years, respectively, with the possibility of extensions of 3 or 6 months in extraordinary circumstances. The Junior Scholarship is worth INR 10, 500 per month for PG students, and the Senior Scholarship is worth INR 13, 125 per month for doctorate candidates.

Library Services: With a collection of 6 lakh publications, including 1 lakh books/monographs, 45,000 bulletins, 30,000 news clippings, 15,000 PG theses, 3,50,000 journal volumes, 10,000 pamphlets, 30,000 reports, and other reference materials, IARI Library is one of the biggest and best agrobiological libraries in South East Asia.
Dormitories: The institute contains one hostel for girls (Varsha), 5 apartments for boys (Hemant, Vasant, Shishir, Grishm, and Sharad), and one flat for married students called Saraswati.
Sports: The Institute supports extracurricular activities that enhance students' social, cultural, and physical lives. Enormous playgrounds are available for outdoor sports like badminton, tennis, volleyball, hockey, football, cricket, and hockey. Additionally, there are spaces for indoor games including table tennis, carom, and chess.
National Phytotron Facility: The Institute opened this facility in 1997. This is the nation's first facility of its kind dedicated to researching the living reactions of plants in controlled environments as well as the potential effects of greenhouse gases and climate change.
