The UGC recognises University, which has received a 'B++' rating from NAAC. University has been placed 61st among India's top universities by NIRF 2023. It is one of India's oldest and largest institutions, with about 3 lakh students. University is an affiliating university at UG level and a teaching institution at the graduate level. It has 235 colleges, 15 acknowledged institutions, and 24 approved institutes under its umbrella.

The university offers UG, graduate, doctoral, diploma, and certificate programs through various departments. Admission to these courses is based on performance in the qualifying examination. Candidates seeking admission to BDS, MBBS, M.Tech, and MBA programs must have a valid score in an entrance exam such as NEET, GATE, or CMAT, respectively.

 The university has a women's development cell so that female students have an equal opportunity to build their personalities, improve their abilities, and come forward to increase their efficiency. The institute offers a 'Study Abroad Program' in which students from all over the world can study about Indian culture, tourism, languages, journalism, and other topics. University offers placements to its students through both on-campus and off-campus drives. Some top recruiters are TCS, Infosys, Amul, AIMDEK, Zycus Infotech, Maruti Suzuki, Gruh Finance, and the Times of India.

Admissions at University

For the majority of UG and graduate programs, admission to universities is based on merit. The institution also admits students through national-level assessments such as NEET, CMAT, and GATE for BDS, MBA, and M.Tech degrees. University admission 2024 for all UG and PG programs based on merit will be done through Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS), an operated common admission platform, beginning with the academic year 2024-25. The admissions process is as follows:

Step 1: Register on the GCAS Portal.

Candidates seeking admission to UG and graduate programs at University and its affiliated colleges may register online through the GCAS portal . 

For the initial registration, students must enter their name, date of birth from their HSC marksheet, mobile number, and email address.

Students can log in using the email address and password they set during the original registration process. After that, fill up all of the personal and academic details as shown on the Marksheet and Category Certificate, and submit the appropriate documents:

• Applicant must have latest Photo and Signature with maximum size of 50 K.B
• (JPG/JPEG Format).
• Applicant must have below documents with maximum size of 200 K.B. for complete application fill-up.
• All Mark-sheets of Qualifying Exam (If Original Mark-sheet is not available, you can upload copy of online mark-sheet)
• School Leaving Certificate(Optional)
• Caste Certificate 
• Non-Creamy Layer Certificate of Valid Period 
• Differently Abled Certificate 
• EWS Certificate 

After uploading all documents, candidates must select a college, program, and medium of study for University from the list provided on the website.
After validating all of the details, press the lock button and submit the application form with registration fee of INR 300.

Step 2: Fill in your preferences and rearrange your options.

Candidates who selected University college/program/course must log in with their credentials and pick the GU preference portal to recognise their admission preferences based on merit and category on a specific date/period. (Those who do not recognise their choices according to their preferences will be assessed based on the data provided by the GCAS portal for admission allotment).

Step 3 : Provisional Admission Offer.

University will issue first admission offer letters to candidates based on their qualifying exam scores, seat availability, and college and program preferences entered during registration. Students can obtain the admission offer letter on the GCAS webpage. Students can only download one offer letter per course (program) for which they have applied.

Step 4: Report to the College

After downloading the admission offer letter, students must report to the appropriate college with all original papers, copies, and the Admission Offer Letter of the given college. Candidates from other than Gujarat State must get a Provisional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) from University.

Step 5: Document Verification & Admission

The college will verify the student's original documentation and marksheets. If all documents and mark-sheets match and are confirmed to be correct, including filled-out data and merit rank, the candidate will be awarded admission after paying the entrance fee.

Result of University :

University publishes results for each course online through its 'Result Portal'. Students who took UG, PG and other exams on campus can check the status of their results on the university's website. After the results are announced, University offers the option of reassessment if any student is dissatisfied with the grades in any exam.

Step 1: Go to the official website.
Step 2: Click 'Examination' and then select 'Result' from the dropdown menu.
Step 3: List of result will appear then click on desired result.
Step 4: Enter seat number on the portal.
Step 5: After inputting the correct credentials, University results will be displayed on screen.

Placements to University

The university holds regular job opportunities on campus, during which the best employers recruit students. Only final year students are invited to participate in placement drives. Every year, around 30-40% of students are placed in top companies. The professions that students are offered include HR executive, IT experts, business development associate, sales and marketing executive, and so on. According to Gujarat University placement 2024 data, the median package offered to passing students was approximately INR 9.76 LPA. Top recruiters including Infosys, Reliance, Zydus Cadila, AIMDEK, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Global Vox, and TCS took part in University's placement 2024.

Scholarships for Students

SHODH (System for Developing High-Quality Research

University provides this grant to help students undertake qualitative research. This program provides monthly support of INR 15,000 to full-time research scholars.

 Furthermore, the University offers financial support for higher education to students participating in the Mukhymantri Yuva Swavlamban Yojana. University also offers scholarships to people of the lower backward classes or SC/ST for improved education and financial support. The university administers over 30 scholarship programs offered by the Gujarat government.

Scholarships can be obtained by visiting the Scholarship Portal, completing the scholarship application form, and submitting all required documents together with the application form.

Facilities at University

Library:    University has a large library collection. It has 1,700 books and 170 periodicals. University Reading Centre is connected to the university's central library building. The Reading Centre can accommodate around 400 pupils at a time.

Seminar Hall and Classrooms:   The institution has an AC seminar hall that is utilised for seminars, lectures, and other educational activities. It can seat 80 individuals at a time. There are large classrooms at the university. The rooms are well-equipped with internet access, LAN connections, and projectors.

Sports:    The institution boasts an impressive sports complex that spans 47 acres on its campus. There includes a 400-meter track with a pavilion, a basketball cement court, 2 tennis courts, 1 hockey court, 2 volleyball courts, 1 cricket ground, 1 Kabaddi and Kho Kho ground, a multipurpose auditorium for physical education events, and a gymnasium to help kids improve their physical fitness.

Hostel:    The institution has hostel facilities for both boys and girls on campus. Students from University's Ph.D., M. Phil., PG Course, and K.S. School of Business Management (Integrated) can apply for hostel admission. The hostel facilities include a separate canteen, mess, telephone, newspaper, water cooler and television.
