National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal

The National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) is one of the leading institutes committed to the advancement of dairy research. The National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal was founded in 1923 as the Imperial Institute of Animal Husbandry and Dairying in Bangalore. It was extended and renamed the Imperial Dairy Institute in 1936, and it became the National Dairy Research Institute after gaining independence in 1947.

The Institute's massive 560-hectare campus houses labs, offices, dormitories, a hospital, residential complexes, an auditorium, and other facilities. The Institute's various labs are equipped with advanced analytical instruments to conduct research in the most advanced areas of Molecular Biology, Cell Culture, Fermentation Technology, Protein Chemistry, Nutritional Studies, Food Technology, Microbiology, Micro Element Analysis, and so on. International students are also present; the university continues to draw students from Nepal, Iraq, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Holland, Mauritius, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and Iran.

The Institute has an excellent group of around 1600 dairy animals, including cattle, buffaloes, and goats, which is used for breed development initiatives and other research activities.

Scholarships:

• Scholarships provided by the Government of India/ICAR/Alumni Association/Dairy Industry, among others, will be offered to students based on merit. This provision will be used to support as many students as possible who have an excellent academic record and are working hard to seek higher education.
• The award will be awarded by the Institute's Joint Director based on the recommendations of the Standing Committee, which will examine each student's merit.
• Scholarships will be offered to 1st-year students based on their merit in the Entrance Examination, and to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students based on their merit in the previous year's exams.
• If students achieve equivalent marks/SGPA/CGPA, their previous year's results will be used to calculate their inter-se-merit for this purpose. However, for 2nd-year students, the merit awarded in the admission exam would be considered.

Scholarship 2024 at University

• Scholarships will be offered to first-year students based on their merit in the Entrance Examination, and to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students based on their merit in the previous year's examination.
• In case students acquire equivalent marks/SGPA/CGPA, their previous year's score would be taken.
• However, in respect of second year students, merit assigned in the entrance examination shall be taken into consideration.
• ICAR National Talent Scholarship (NTS) is available to every student admitted by the Council at the rate of Rs. 1000/- per month during the period of study provided the student:

1. Joins University in a state outside his/her Domicile state.

2. Has not changed the university or subject given for any reason.

3. Has not admitted against any vacant seat through waitlist option as per his/her request.

4. Maintains good conduct and satisfactory academic performance (7.0 OGPA) throughout the period of study.

5.  Does not fail any courses during their studies.

• Each Scholarship must be for one year.
