Career Point University, Hamirpur, established by the Himachal Pradesh government in 2012, offers courses in Engineering and Technology, Computer Application and IT, Basic and Applied Sciences, Business and Management, Vocational and Legal Studies. University is UGC approved, with 16 departments and 10 research areas.

Course admissions are based on both merit and entry. Selections are also based on national/state level entrance exams that follow the standards established by the HP government.

 The college has received several awards, including the Bharat Gaurav Award for 2017 and the Himachal Rattan Award. On the college campus, the University has around 1500 students and more than 100 teaching or support personnel.

Admission to University's many programs is dependent on both merit and entry.

• Admission to B.Tech courses is based on the JEE Mains or HPTU Entrance test, but admission to MBA programs is dependent on CAT/MAT results.
• Admission to other UG courses, such as BA, BBA, and B.Sc, is based on merit.
• Admissions to other PG degrees, such as MA, M.Com, and MCA, are based on merit.

The college has a dedicated placement unit that assures placement in all sectors of application. Placement-related activities are given the utmost emphasis to guarantee that all successful students are placed appropriately. Scholarships for Students

The institute provides scholarships and financial support to students based on their time of enrolment and other factors such as entrance exam scores. The tuition fees for BCA, BBA, Diploma(HM), B.Com, B.Sc(IT), BSc, PGDCA, PGDBM, M.Com, MSc (Maths), LLM, MSc(IT), DCA, MA, and BA programs is reduced by up to INR 4,000. Tuition fees for B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, M.Sc (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry), BA, LLB, MCA, BHMCT, B.Pharm, D.Pharm, B.Sc Forestry, M.Sc Hotel Management, and M.Sc Medicinal Microbiology can be reduced by up to INR 7,000. Scholarships are provided to M.Tech and MBA students based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying exam.
