Career Point University, Hamirpur, established by the Himachal Pradesh government in 2012, offers courses in Engineering and Technology, Computer Application and IT, Basic and Applied Sciences, Business and Management, Vocational and Legal Studies. University is UGC approved, with 16 departments and 10 research areas.

Course admissions are based on both merit and entry. Selections are also based on national/state level entrance exams that follow the standards established by the HP government.

Admission to University's many programs is dependent on both merit and entry.

• Admission to B.Tech courses is based on the JEE Mains or HPTU Entrance test, but admission to MBA programs is dependent on CAT/MAT results.
• Admission to other UG courses, such as BA, BBA, and B.Sc, is based on merit.
• Admissions to other PG degrees, such as MA, M.Com, and MCA, are based on merit.
