Jammu University is a state university in Jammu that has been authorised by the UGC. It was established in 1969 and accredited by NAAC. Additionally, It was ranked 63 among universities in 2023 by NIRF. More than 60 programs in commerce, humanities and social sciences, science, and management are available in UG, graduate, and doctoral levels at the campus. Candiadates get admission to the university's main campus and more than 90 associated institutions based on their performance on the CUET exams. Personal interviews (PI) are organised by the institution for admission to Ph.D. specialisations. The university offers distance learning courses with the aid of the department of distance education.

Admission at University

More than 50 UG, post-graduate, diploma, and doctoral programs are offered by the university. After the counselling procedure, admissions are determined by the results of the CUET exam. Additionally, University's entrance exam and interview constitute the critieria for admission to Ph.D. programs. Only online applications are considered by the university for admission. The student must take the CUET exam after registering. Candidates must stand by for the university to reveal the results of entrance exam together with the list of shortlisted candidates. The university's campus is situated in Jammu, often known as Temple City. The New University at Bahuwalirakh, which occupies approximately 118.70 acres, and the smaller old campus at Canal Road, which is 0.53 acres, are its 2 campuses. Additionally, the university offers courses on its remote campuses in Bhaderwah, Kathua, Udhampur, and Punch. The campus of University consists of:

• Hostels: The campus of University has both boys and girls hostels. Total 2500 students can be accommodated in the 8 girls' and 11 boys' dormitories.Modern conveniences like Wi-Fi, TV, a gym and bustle are available at the hostels. Additionally, the university provides housing for research scholars and international students.
• Central Books: There are 3.5 lakh books, 1.5 lakh e-books, 350 journals, and 15,000 e-journals on the Dhanvantari campus. The library is open from 10 am to 5 pm on weekends and holidays.
• Sports: For various sports, including football, cricket, volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, and chess, University campus offers first-rate facilities. The university features a gymnasium, a swimming pool, and a stadium.
