University of Kashmir Overview

University of Kashmir, Srinagar

Kashmir University (KU), is one of leading universities in India. It is re-accredited by with "A+" grade. As per the NIRF 2023, KU is placed 33rd out of India's top universities. The three sections of University's campus i.e. Hazratbal Campus, Naseem Bagh Campus, and Mirza Bagh Campus occupies 247 acres of land. With 12 faculties, 47 academic depts, and 21 centres. It has 45 affiliated institutes and  21 constituent colleges.

Over 100 UG, Post-graduate, and doctoral courses are available at University. All major faculties—arts, science, engineering, management, law, education, medicine, etc. offer the courses. Admission to University is based on entrance exams or merit. The university also offers admission to various UG and graduate programs on the basis of entrance exams like CUET, JEE Main, GATE, CMAT, and GPAT. For admission to its specific programs, the university also conducts the Kashmir University Entrance Test (KUET). Admission ar University

Admission to universities is done online. To apply, candidates must go to the university's official website and fill out the application. Undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees are available at University invarious subject areas, including the arts, sciences, engineering, management, law, education, and medicine. Admissions are given according to merit. The university also offers admission to a number of undergraduate and graduate programs based on entrance exams like CUET, JEE Main, GATE, CMAT, and GPAT. For admission to certain of its programs, the university also conducts University Entrance Test (KUET). The procedures to apply for programs at University are as follows:

Application Procedure

  • Visit the official website of Kashmir University.
  • Register by providing all the necessary details.
  • Login using the login ID generated while registering.
  • Fill out the application form carefully, provide all the mandatory details. 
  • Attach all the important documents,
  • Pay the required fee through net banking/debit/credit card.
  • Your Form will automatically submitted after the payment of fees.
  • Take the Printout of the Application Form and Keep it for future use.

Reservation at University

Candidates and students in various categories who fall under the SC/ST category are given reservations by the university. Candidates from the open merit category fill 67% total seats. Result:

For both UG and graduate programs, the university conducts term-end exams. By going to the university's official website, students can view the outcomes of their individual courses. To receive the most recent information, students should regularly check the official website where the results notice is posted. Students can view the results of the DDE exam in addition to the UG and PG courses.

For students who do not pass the exam, University offers a separate portal for evaluation results. They can apply by going to the examination tab, selecting the course they want to take, and then seeing the outcome.

Admit Card

In order to take entrance exams for UG, graduate, or any diploma program, candidates must download their University of Kashmir Admit Cards. In their general announcement area, the university announces the publication of the admit cards.

  • Applicants must go to University's official website.
  • There is a general notification section on the website.
  • Click on the link to download the relevant course admission card. The link will take you to the relevant page where you can download your admit card in a new window.
  • After entering your date of birth and registration number in the appropriate fields, select the website's Download option.

Note: Candidates are required to bring their Admit Cards at the time of exam because without these they will not be permitted to sit for the exam.

Placements:

According to the University of Kasmir's NIRF report 2023, during University placement in 2022, 119 UG, 346 graduate, and 39 integrated PG students were placed. UG graduates' median pay ranged from INR 5 LPA to INR 8 LPA. PG were offered a median income 7 LPA. The median pay for integrated PG students was INR 5 LPA. A thorough placement record has not yet been made public by Kashmir University. Nonetheless, among the leading companies at University's placements were HCL, IBM, HP, HUL, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Idea, Airtel, and Wipro.

Scholarship for University

The university offers worthy applicants various scholarships in various categories. The three scholarships that the university offers are listed below:

  • Merit Scholarship: 2 merit scholarships are available to two merit recipients in any course. It is awarded based on the Entrance Test results. Scholarships are awarded to final-year M.A., M.Sc., and M.Com. students based on their merit scores.
  • Research Scholarship: Four scholarships are given out in each department for conducting research that results in Ph.D. or M.Phil. degrees. Additionally, each year they will receive a grant to cover other expenses.
  • Student Support: Financial support for deserving students from low-income families is known as student support. Additionally, the university helps students from low-income families.
