As a postgraduate centre of Karnataka University, Gulbarga University, Kalaburagi, has been in functioning since 1970. The main campus is located in Gulbarga City and covers an area of 860 acres. There are 4 PG Centres and 38 PG departments within the university. This State University employs 700 technical and non-technical staff members in addition to 160 faculty members. Students enrol in various courses at the 305 colleges affiliated with University each year. The university has received approval from the UGC and "Grade B" accreditation from the NAAC in recent years. 

University keeps the admission process open for PG, M.Phil & Ph.D. programs. University Ph.D. course has a different recognition; the university only charges INR 13,740 for a research program. Selection to all the courses at University is both merit & entrance test based. To apply for University in any course candidates are required to visit the official admission portal.

Application Procedure 2024

University maintains an online application process, so students who are interested in applying should check the official website. To apply, follow these steps:

•  Visit the official website of the university and click on the Admission tab.
• Click on Apply Online and fill the form carefully.
• Pay the application fees ( through net banking or credit/debit card.
• Take the printout of application form after submitting it.

Application Fees:

• For CEE: INR 800 (for SC/ST Candidates and Cat-I candidates: INR 400)
• For Others: INR 600 (for SC/ST Candidates and Cat-I candidates: INR 300)

Note:

• SC/ST and Cat-I Candidates have to submit a Caste/Category certificate along with submitting the printout of the application.
• For Admission to PG Course, the Application form along with the required documentation must be submitted to the Chairperson/Co-Ordinator of the Concerned Department.

Facilities at University

The university has large 860-acre campus, is one of the premier centres of academic excellence that serves the educational needs of the community in Hyderabad, Karnataka.

Hostels: 3 women's and 5 men's hostels on the main campus house more than 1,100 students. The Women's Hostel also offers accommodations to female research scholars. To provide stay for all female students registered in the above mentioned PG centres, the university has set up Working Women Hostels in the Raichur, Bellary, and Sandur locations. 

Library: The University Library, makes sincere efforts to provide user-focused services having over 2,27,831 books, subscribes to 654 scientific journals, Sixteen CD-ROM databases (Current + Archival), 5800 dissertations/theses and technical reports, microfilm, microfiche, conference papers, and rare books.

Sports: Excellent indoor stadium having four courts and a well-equipped gym with a capacity of 1750 audience in the gallery has been established. The University also has an outdoor stadium with a 400-meter track for various events. The University has developed a Football ground, 2 Hockey grounds, 2 Volleyball courts, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Basketball courts, Badminton tennis courts, Ball Badminton Tennis court, 2 Cricket grounds, 4 table tennis courts. Besides, modern gymnasium facilities are also provided for the benefit of the students and the faculty.
