IIIT Bangalore is a Deemed-to-be University with UGC accreditation, established in 1998. The institution is equally sponsored by the state government of Karnataka and the IT industry. Courses at University

University offers 20 courses, including diploma, certificate, and degree degrees. UG, graduate, and doctorate degrees are offered for all degree programs. Only diploma and certificate programs are offered online at PG level. The institute offers 5-year UG dual-degree program in B.Tech+M.Tech. Admission to the program is determined by the results of the JEE Main entrance exam. For PG education, university offers 2-year M.Tech and M.Sc programs. On the other hand, Ph.D. and MS programs at the research level are available.

University offers 5-year Integrated M.Tech program instead of 4-year B.Tech curriculum. University's iM.Tech (B.Tech + M.Tech) program specialises on CSE and ECE. Admissions at University

Written tests for M.Sc and MS programs are conducted by the institute. JEE Admission to iM.Tech (B.Tech + M.Tech) is determined by the main scores. Admission to university for M.Tech programs requires GATE scores. Admission to the M.Sc in Digital Society and MS program is decided by a written exam, which is followed by PI round.

NIRF ranked IIIT Bangalore 76th out of 300 Indian colleges in 2021 and 81st out of 300 in 2022. In 2022, IIRF ranked IIIT Bangalore 87th out of 192 Indian colleges for B.Tech. During the university Placements 2023, 553 offers were accepted. The maximum CTC of INR 65 LPA and the average CTC of INR 35.03 LPA were obtained by the CSE students. Campus at University

The university campus provides a typical university experience amid white quadrangles, attractive natural spaces, and modern architecture. It is situated in Electronic City, the epicentre of Bangalore's information technology industry. The campus of universitye covers 9 acres. On the residential campus, there are 2 blocks of dorms for girls named Lilavati and 2 blocks for guys named Bhaskara and Visveshwara. Lilavati has 179 completely furnished single rooms, while Bhaskara and Visveshwaya have 754 solo rooms and 76 shared rooms. Every accommodation has Internet access, and there is 24-hour security. The campus provides easy access to the rest of the city.
