Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is based in Mysuru, Karnataka. It is a State Public University that was established on June 1, 1996. It was approved by the State Legislature in 1992. The university has been approved by the UGC. KSOU is the top location for Open and Distance Learning programs. The University allows students to M.A., M.Com, B.A., B.Com, M.Sc., and MBA distant learning programs. For admission to B.A./B.Com, students must have their class 12 exam from a recognized board or completed -year pre-university test.
Candidates for M.A./M.Com must have a graduation in the relevant discipline and an aggregate score 50% in the subjects mentioned. Candidates for the M.sc program must hold a recognized graduate degree in the relevant field.

Admission at University
The selection for any of the UG, PG, Diploma, PG Diploma, and Ph.D. programs is based on the results of the most recent qualifying exam. There is no entrance exam for admission to the institute. Admission is only merit-based.
Scholarships at University
University offers post-matric scholarships to students enrolled at the institute. Post-Matric Scholarships are offered in the form of fee reimbursement and hostel payments. The institute also provides a defense scholarship for students whose parents are members of any wing of the Indian Army.
Certain requirements must be met to be eligible for the scholarship. The Post Matric Scholarship is provided to SC/ST category candidates with an annual income of less than or between 2.5 and 10 lakhs. Income, Caste, and Bonafide Certificates are required to meet the eligibility conditions.
