In 1969, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) was established in Akola. It provides courses devoted to agricultural sciences. The Agriculture and Engineering faculties provide B.Sc., B.Tech., M.Sc., M.Tech., and Doctorate degree programs. For PG programs, admission to the courses is determined by various entrance exams; for UG programs, it is determined on the results of previous exams. Admissions at University

Merit from the previous exam is the basis for admission to UG courses. However, the Maharashtra Agricultural Universities Examination Board (MAUEB), located in Pune, conducts the Common Entrance Test, which is the basis for admission to PG and doctoral programs. I.C.A.R., New Delhi, will conduct the Common Entrance Examination to fill some seats in each course.

• Fees for submission of application form :  For Open category INR 100 ,  For Reserved category INR 500
• Pay the fees through Demand Draft or by Challan to State Bank of India, payable to the Financial Advisor, MCAER, Pune at Pune.

Facilities at university

• Hostel:    There are separate accommodations for boys and girls at the college, each with 41 rooms that can house 82 students. TV, a separate mess facility, a recreation area, a volleyball court, etc. are extra amenities.
• Library:   In addition to 255 journals of interest in technical, agricultural, and related sciences, the library has around 1.57 lakh books and other reading materials. Rare books and collections of special importance are also kept there.
• Extracurricular Activities:   The college offers various facilities for physical education and sports. These consist of volleyball court, a table tennis board, and a gymnasium.
• Educational excursions:    Each year, educational excursions are planned for students pursuing B.Sc. in Agriculture. The purpose of the educational excursions is to give the students a chance to learn about the practical aspects of agriculture and related fields in various regions of the nation.
